King Herald being caught up in this annoying situation didn't know what to do too? He looked like a helpless beggar not knowing whom to beg for arm. Lucinda wished she could watch this drama all day and laugh at her father but no, Immediately this man leaves, Lucinda knows her life would be over. Somehow, she wanted this man in the palace always, but who was he? She can't remember seeing this face anywhere? Was he here for some meeting?
Lucinda could see the look sent by the man to her father and Luciana. Judging from his facial expression, he was upset or worse, Angry. Luciana would burn in hell today, and Lucinda wanted it.
"I want her to be flogged" The man said as he rested his hands on his waist. Luciana gaped as she held her father's hands. Lucinda could see tears trying to find it's way out of Luciana's eyes. Meanwhile, Herald was finding a soothing word to say to save his daughter from being flogged.
"Please, spare her. She isn't used with punishment" King Herald pleaded with his waist bent like a woman trying to carry her child. But who was he intending to carry? A spirit? This was amusing.
"Oh…but this girl is used with punishment? Well, I'll make her get used to it. Take her!!!" He ordered and immediately, Herald was seen on his knees.
"Please don't do this. I apologize for what might have happened, but she might die if she gets flogged" Herald shredded crocodile tears as he placed his palms together.
"Don't worry, she won't die. A bit of pain and exercise is good for a princess, especially in times of war. 5 strokes will keep her busy. No more talks….take her away" The man ordered, and the guards yanked Luciana. Now, King Herald couldn't utter a word as he stood back on his feet. He tried his best, blocking Luciana's cries from his head. He could hear the girl asking for his help, but as a father, a very useless father, he was unable to protect her from serving punishment. Likewise, he only had one person to blame. Lucinda!! If not for her, Luciana wouldn't be flogged.
"If she causes trouble while flogging her, double it with 5" The man yelled and the guards nodded. Lucinda smiled inertly. Somehow, God saved her from getting flogged, and she was happy bout that.
"Hello girl, what's your name?" The man asked her as he itched his disgusting beard.
"Princess Lucinda Du Veist" I curtsied.
"Princess?" The man stunned himself.
"Yes" Lucinda simply said, and immediately she could sense danger overwhelming through her veins.
"She's your daughter?" The man asked King Herald and the man nodded like a dumb man. The man sighed.
Who would ever expect a father being biased towards his two daughters. That was a sin. As a father, he as supposed to love his two children equally and treat them the same way, but King Herald was doing the complete opposite. Lucinda felt something more huge behind this. Perhaps she wasn't any part of the family. Her inner angel always convinces her so.
"You are so cruel. Why would you..... What am I doing here anyway? " The man didn't know what to say anymore. He felt disgusted, and Lucinda could only shiver at her stand.
"I can't make deals with you. My demand would not be what you expect" The man said calmly as he turned around to take his leave, but the quiet, stupid father, finally spoke.
"Demand anything, and I'll give it to you. I can't stand to lose in this war. Please" King Herald said and hesitantly, the man turned back to him as he studied him. He looked at him for a while before gazing to the sky and then to the ground.
"Fine. I'll tell you what I need after the war. Let's talk" The man said as he walked towards the palace. King Herald quietly followed as he threw a killing gaze and Lucinda.
A war was coming up? She didn't know about this. Perhaps, was that why her father respected his man? Is he a powerful man? What will he demand for?
Lucinda wondered, but got startled when she heard a scream. It was Luciana. Her punishment has started.
"Restart. She's giving us trouble" The whipping of the rope echoed in Lucinda's ear as she shivered in fear. This wouldn't be easy for Luciana, but this same girl wanted to give her 30. Lucinda didn't know whether she was to be happy about this or not. But despite everything, they were sisters. Lucinda sighed as she hugged herself. The shout was freaking her out.
