Ignoring Yoko's desperate pleas for him to leave, Kazuya stood his ground. Facing the group of delinquents with a stern expression, he asked in a cold tone, "Yoko is my little sister. Are you tired of living, messing with my sister?"
He was genuinely furious. Yoko was a well-behaved and obedient girl who didn't seek trouble. Even if something wasn't right, she shouldn't have been slapped by a group of delinquents on the street. It was merely bullying a younger, weaker girl who had no one to stand up for her.
No one was standing up for her, so he would.
Yoko was trying to circle around him and got to the front, but being small and weak, Kazuya's hand held her firmly. She struggled, but he held her back. She was scared, not wanting to involve Kazuya in her problems, scared that her issues might harm the only person who cared for her. She knew Kazuya was an honor student with excellent grades, and she couldn't believe he would be a match for these delinquents.
In her mind, taking a few slaps in broad daylight from these delinquents wouldn't be too bad. If they crossed the line, she could use her underage alarm to call the police. However, making a big deal out of it would bring consequences she couldn't handle. Her mother wouldn't forgive her. So, she hoped Kazuya would leave quickly.
However, Kazuya had already confronted the delinquents' leader.
The delinquents didn't seem to recognize Kazuya. The leader, recovering from the shock of being hit by the bag pointde at Kazuya's nose, "Tired of living? Do you know who I am? Just moved here? Didn't bother to find out who I, Jikawa Kameda, am..."
Jikawa Kameda was the leader's name, and he seemed to enjoy the attention. His buddies were starting to regain composure and gather around him.
He didn't finish his sentence when Kazuya suddenly clenched his fingers and forcefully twisted them. Bent over in pain, he let out scream, only to be silenced by Kazuya's knee forcefully pressing against his face.
Kazuya showed no mercy and wasted no words. In his opinion, there was no point in reasoning with scum like this. Talking sense with them would only make them perceive you as weak, making them even more brazen.
Thrown off balance by Kazuya's knee, Jikawa reached back. Then he gave a series of punches: an eye-sealing blow followed by two punches to the jaw.
Jikawa hadn't expected Kazuya who appeared to be a weak scholar to move so swiftly. Even more surprising was his audacity to strike first when surrounded by a dozen people. He was silenced by the beating, unable to produce a scream. His hands and face throbbed, and he felt the world spun.
Behind him, his buddies were furious, shouting and charging towards Kazuya. Many of them wielded weapons like wooden baseball bats and motorcycle chains, ready to beat Kazuya half to death.
Everything happened too quickly. Yoko screamed and was about to rush forward to help Kazuya, but to her amazement, he was already facing off against them, sending the approaching attackers sprawling.
Seizing a baseball bat in the chaos, he skillfully activated his [Anticipation], gaining an immediate understanding of the surroundings. With his [Ancient Swordsmanship] at level 8, he was more than capable of handling this situation. Swinging the bat, he cleared the immediate threats and then wielded it like a sword, slashing across a face approaching with another bat and thrusting it into the abdomen of another attacker, sending him stumbling backward.
If it were real swords, he would have scored three kills in less than two seconds.
Kazuya was entangled with the group, and Yoko was left in awe. While she knew Kazuya practiced swordsmanship, she didn't expect him to be so formidable. His movements were swift, his reactions agile, and despite being surrounded by several people, he remained fearless. Each action was decisive, as if rehearsed millions of times. After each strike, a cry of pain followed, and soon, someone would fall to the ground and be unable to get up.
Even when an attacker came charging towards her, Kazuya swiftly turned back and knocked the assailant down with a swing of the bat as if having eyes in the back of his head. Tears welled up in Yoko's eyes. Was Onisan really keeping an eye on her, protecting her in the midst of being surrounded by enemies?
Groans of pain, screams, moans, and a floor covered in blood – there was no one standing near Kazuya anymore. Despite him intentionally holding back to avoid causing fatal injuries, these people were far less skilled than the ronin swordsmen he faced in the "Meditation Battle." The scene posed no challenge to him.
Jikawa had a sudden change in demeanor as he looked around. He realized that even his buddies were at a loss, displaying a hint of fear. All of them had positioned themselves behind him, as if the unexpected blow had shattered their courage to face Kazuya directly. It seemed they needed their leader to step in and boost their morale.
Kazuya advanced with large strides with a stern expression, picking up pace. Jikawa and his group were forced to retreat continuously under the pressure of his imposing presence. He began to feel a sense of fear.
With a menacing expression, he shouted, "I'm from the Kameda family on this street. You Brat, think about the consequences before you act... Hey, kid, let's reason things out. It was the wild child from the Shiraishi family who injured my brother... Oh!"
Ignoring Jikawa's protests, Kazuya swung the bat forward, directly targeting Jikawa's arm. Then, with a swift kick, he sent him sprawling, clutching his stomach in pain. Other guys behind Jikawa shouted in unison. One of them approached but was knocked down by his swing. The others turned and ran. After all, they were just delinquents who preyed on the weak and feared the strong, lacking any backbone.
Those people weren't the main culprits, so Kazuya didn't pursue. He tossed the bat, knocking down one person, and then turned his attention to Jikawa.
Grabbing him by the collar, Kazuya delivered a series of resounding slaps to his face, scolding him angrily, "Dare to hurt my sister. Think about the consequences before you act! Hey, mute? Can't speak?"
Yoko suddenly rushed forward, forcefully embracing his arm and crying out, "Onisan, don't cause trouble because of me, please!"
This shocked her. She hadn't expected Kazuya, who was usually so gentle, to have such a fierce and ruthless side. For some reason, she felt an overwhelming warmth instead of being frightened. But she didn't want anything bad to happen to Kazuya. He had a promising future!
She didn't want him to face consequences just for venting his anger for her.
Kazuya glanced at Yoko, noticing her tear-streaked face and anxious expression. After a moment's thought, he stopped his actions, directly threatening Jikawa in a low voice, "You live on this street, right? If anything happens to Yoko afterwards, I'll find you. Understand the consequences, don't you?"
Jikawa, already half-dazed from the continuous slaps, strained to look at Kazuya through his swollen eyes. Although the vision was blurry, the fierceness in Kazuya's voice was clearly felt. He nodding vigorously, "Und... understand."
