Chapter 1: The Frantic Awakening

The alarm blared so loudly that Ivy's heart jumped, propelling her out of bed. Squinting at the clock's glowing digits that displayed a glaring 7:30 am, she briefly considered sinking back into the sheets. But then, a sudden jolt of realization shot through her as she remembered her 8 o'clock interview.

"Shit!" The word slipped from her lips as she leaped out of bed, her sleepiness instantly replaced by a surge of panic. The interview she had been preparing for was just half an hour away, and she hadn't even brushed her teeth.

Ivy dashed into the bathroom, water splashing as she hurriedly showered. Time was slipping through her fingers like sand in an hourglass. She dressed in a frenzy, her fingers fumbling with buttons and zippers. Her hair, still damp, was hastily tied back in a messy bun. In record time, she transformed from a disheveled sleeper into a woman in a hurry.

With toothbrush in mouth, Ivy zipped around her small apartment, shoving essentials into her bag. Her heart raced like a marathon runner's, each second ticking away like a countdown to disaster.

Finally ready, Ivy burst out of her apartment and onto the streets. The morning sun was already glaring in the sky, casting a sense of urgency on the city. She sprinted to the bus terminal, only to find the doors of the bus closing just as she arrived. A collective groan from the other latecomers resonated in the air.

She scanned the area. A lone taxi idled nearby, its "for hire" light glowing like a beacon of hope. Ivy didn't waste a second. She waved frantically, and the taxi screeched to a halt.

"Blackwells Enterprise," Ivy gasped, her voice carrying a mix of anxiety and determination. The driver nodded and maneuvered the car into the chaotic traffic, weaving through the maze of vehicles as Ivy clung to her seat. She checked her phone, watching the minutes tick away.

As the taxi neared the destination, Ivy's heart raced faster. She paid the driver and dashed out, barely managing to thank him in her haste. The building loomed ahead, and she could practically feel the finish line in sight.

Breathless and with seconds to spare, Ivy burst into the lobby of Blackwells Enterprise. Her hair was a mess, her clothes slightly disheveled, but she was there. She made it. The receptionist raised an eyebrow, but Ivy managed a quick smile, trying to regain a semblance of composure.

With a swift "You're next," the receptionist motioned towards the interview room. Ivy nodded, took a deep breath, and walked in.

As the door closed behind her, Ivy felt a mixture of relief and adrenaline coursing through her. The morning's chaos had brought her to this moment, and she was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
