Creating My Own Army (on hold)

[Current World: Naruto] This story takes place in an alternate universe (AU) of Earth, where kingdoms still exist. The main character (MC) is the youngest war general due to a conflict with a more powerful kingdom. After dying in battle, the MC is offered a unique opportunity: a job that involves fighting monsters and armies. This position comes with two options—if they accept, they will gain power by going through trials; otherwise, they can choose to ascend to heaven or be reincarnated into their original world once again 1. Please note, this is not a harem story. I attempted to create one in my first fanfiction but struggled to find a plausible way to introduce such dynamics. Additionally, after reading numerous harem stories, while I don’t dislike the concept itself, the justifications provided in those narratives often felt contrived and unconvincing—for example, "He’s so strong, I need sisters," or "He’s the last of his clan, so he needs multiple wives." These reasons simply didn't resonate with me. Therefore, if romance becomes part of this story, it will feature a single pairing rather than a harem setup. Disclaimer: I do not own the Naruto world or any of its characters. My story only includes an original character (OC). Furthermore, I do not claim ownership of the cover picture used for this work. If the rightful owner wishes for it to be removed, please contact me.

After wrapping up in the sealed space, I discovered that none of the orcs were suitable candidates for shadow resurrection due to their demonic influence. However, their armor and weapons held value, so the system offered to purchase them at a reasonable price. Since these items were too large for practical use, I sold them instead.

The real reward came from leveling up six times during this mission—four levels as a bonus from the system for completing my first job, along with a dungeon key, ten free status points, and the skill [Teleport to Shadow] , which allows me to instantly appear beside any shadow soldier under my command. This ability surpasses [Shadow Exchange] in utility. The remaining two levels came directly from enemy kills.

Feeling prepared, I saved all my shadows and declared, "Job Finished." Instantly, I was teleported back outside Root Headquarters, where the world remained frozen. Summoning my tree-named shadows back into position, I unfroze time. Turning to Danzo, I instructed him to leave while addressing the others.

"Ajamu: 'Danzo, you're dismissed. The rest of you, let's head back. We need to bury the dead and hold a proper funeral for them. But first, select 550 more strong shadows for me, leaving 200 empty spots for future additions.'"

They nodded, and we set off just as dawn approached. By the time we returned, it was morning. Meeting the shadows I'd left behind, I tasked them with gathering 550 capable Uchiha members to join my army while beginning the process of burying the fallen. For the Root ninja, I ordered their bodies burned. As for Itachi, I sent him to watch over his brother after awakening, instructing him to explain everything he witnessed as mere genjutsu designed to unlock his Sharingan.

While inspecting the newly recruited shadows, Gako arrived accompanied by a group of ten kneeling figures. He spoke respectfully.

"Gako: 'My lord, I have something to report.'"

With calm authority, I asked, "What is it, Gako?"

"Gako: 'My lord, the group behind me consists of Uchiha who leveled up and unlocked the Mangekyō Sharingan following the last battle.'"

This news pleased me greatly—it meant my shadows would eventually unlock their Mangekyō abilities. Addressing the group, I commanded them to step forward.

"As the first to achieve this milestone, you've proven yourselves elite. For this, I shall name you all. You will serve as my commanding officers."

Opening the naming interface, I assigned each a title inspired by the Ten Commandments. Pointing from right to left, I declared:

"Your names shall henceforth be Purity, Patience, Love, Selflessness, Truth, Repose, Pacifism, Faith, Reticence, and Piety. Henceforward, you are the Ten Commandments."

Overwhelmed, they responded in unison: "It is our greatest honor, my lord!"

Summoning Yamato and Miko to establish a chain of command, I outlined my plans once they joined the lineup.

"Ajamu: 'I now command 2,500 shadows, including 13 named ones besides Yamato. Each of you ten will lead 200 shadows into battle. Am I clear?'"

All replied in unison: "Yes, Your Highness!"

Continuing, I assigned specific responsibilities:

"Pacifism and Faith, you two are responsible for defending this compound. No spies or intruders are allowed here. Capture anyone who dares trespass and extract information on who sent them before integrating them. Yamato, your group is smaller because your task involves building an intelligence network within this village and beyond. Report directly to me. Additionally, assign two capable shadows to guard Danzo—he still has uses, though he's now a one-armed, one-eyed old man."

Pacifism and Faith, a male and female duo, accepted their roles. The man, built like a tank, excelled in hand-to-hand combat, while the woman, lean and agile, mastered swordsmanship.

"The addressed shadows answered: 'As you wish, Your Highness.'"

Casually, I added, "Oh, and please call me Ajamu-sama in front of others. Agreed?" They nodded.

Turning to Gako and Miko, I continued:

"Gako and Miko, you two are my second-in-command and responsible for managing the Ten Commandments. Ensure each group maintains versatility in terms of elemental affinities and kekkei genkai. Don't consolidate all the strongest shadows into one unit and neglect the rest."

Gako and Miko bowed deeply. "As you wish, Ajamu-sama."

Addressing the remainder of my forces, I concluded:

"The rest of you take orders from Gako and Miko until further notice. Standby here; this location will serve as my headquarters while I remain in this village. Meanwhile, I'll retire to Gako's house to rest."

Gako stepped forward proudly. "It is our greatest honor to host Your Highness. Miko, guide His Majesty to the finest room."

Miko bowed and gestured for me to follow. Obediently, I trailed her inside.

[Gako POV]

In that moment, my life reached its pinnacle when His Highness appointed me as his second-in-command. If I hadn't restrained myself, tears of joy might have streamed down my face.

'His Majesty trusts me so highly... I must not fail him.'

Composing myself, I turned to the assembled shadows.

"I trust everyone understands their duties and the immense responsibility placed upon them by His Highness. Mistakes won't be tolerated—or there will be consequences. Do I make myself clear?"

They chorused unanimously: "Yes, Lord Gako!"

Selecting a hundred shadows I deemed reliable, I issued instructions:

"These hundred shadows are assigned to Pacifism and Faith. Divide them equally and begin your tasks immediately. The rest of the shadow distribution will occur after we clear the area and bury the dead. Everyone pitch in—we must prepare this place before His Lordship awakens."

Turning to Yamato, I added, "Go choose two shadows and send them to Danzo. The other Commandments oversee the operation but work silently. Remember, His Highness is resting. Disturb his slumber, and I'll ensure you regret it."

They all nodded solemnly. "We understand."

Satisfied, I commanded, "Then move out! I want this place ready before His Lordship rises. Go!"

With that, they vanished, leaving me alone. Facing the direction His Highness had departed, I whispered to myself:

"You will not regret trusting me, my king."
