In the endless void a blob could barely be seen. It was a condensation of a smidgen of the void that recently gained awareness. The blob didn't feel or understand anything because there was nothing to base it on.
Over time the blob developed basic sentience, enough to form a rational thought.
"What… am I?" Questioned the blob to no one in particular.
"You are an enigma, something thought impossible to exist." Spoke a soothing yet regal voice.
"Who are you?" Calmly asked the blob while searching for the being who spoke.
"I suppose I would be the mortal equivalent of your mother." Stated the voice in an aloof tone while materialising.
The being took the form of a woman with pitch black hair until the waist, pearly white skin that looks impeccable; as if having been sculpted to perfection, stormy violet eyes, and a purple dress that extends infinitely.
"But you can call me void." Finishes the being named Void to the small blob in front of her.
"Huh" grunted the blob in understanding. "What will you do with me now?"
"Well, I can't keep you here… How about I send you to the multiverse. You'll be able to travel through it to different worlds and increase your strength." Void looked nonchalant, as if talking about the weather.
"What's the multiverse and why would I get strong?" Asked the blob, obviously confused as she was born mentally a few moments ago.
"Oh silly me, I forgot you know nothing about the multiverse and its rules. Well the multiverse is the conjunction of universes that have similar sets of rules and are connected through wormholes that cross between the boundaries of the universe, that boundary is where you are now." Spoke Void in a matter of factly tone.
"Ok, but what are you and me?" Asked the blob not completely understanding what it was.
"You, my dear are a condensation of a part of me, just without most of my abilities. While I am the consciousness of the boundary, typically known as the void." Revealed Void.
"So what can I do?" Asked the blob.
"You are theoretically a blank slate, meaning you can copy the looks, abilities, and even memories; it's better to not copy memories to lose your sense of self." Said Void, mildly worried the blob would lose its sense of self and go crazy if it copied too many memories.
"…okay." Confirmed the blob.
"Good! Now… you need a name." Spoke Void in a jovial manner seeing as the blob listened to her.
"How about… Cloe!" Shouted Void in delight.
"Cloe… yeah Cloe, I like it!" Said Cloe as emotion swelled up inside of her.
Her unfixed shape started swirling as it took shape of a child. (Kind of like this):
"W-what happened to me!?" Asked Cloe surprised.
"Because you accepted the name 'Cloe' as your identity, your soul became fixed and the body Mirrored the change." Watched Void with a careful gaze.
"Okay." Spoke Cloe carefully inspecting her newfound body.
"While this body does not need to be a permanent form or race, it will help speaking with the typically dominant race called humans. Now I most warn you, humans are tainted at heart and greedy. Do not let my warning blind you, but be cautious of their interests." Void had a grave tone and wisdom in her eyes.
"Are all of them like this?" Cloe asked innocently, not understanding what Void's words truly mean.
"Not all, just most of the people raised with a certain mindset and incentive. They could also be born like this." Void's eyes flickered for a moment.
"That is enough for now, if you ever feel yourself in a truly desperate situation call out my name." Void then waved her hand and a blinding light enveloped Cloe and whisked her of to the start of her adventure.
....
Cloe's eyes snapped open as she stared at the rolling fields in front of her. She had never seen anything except for Void in in the void. This was a new experience for her and she savoured every moment of it.
"I never thought the world could be so beautiful!" Cloe shouted out loud with stars in her eyes. It was obvious she was enjoying herself.
"Let's look around and explore." And with a hop in her step, she took off into the glistening fields and towards the large forest. She looked at every plant, tree and rock noting all the differences between each other.
"How can everything be so unique?" Cloe thought aloud while observing two similar looking trees.
Apparently walking around while shouting is a good way to attract attention because a giant weird looking lizard with wings appeared out of nowhere (picture here):
The lizard growled and lunged at Cloe while she had an excited look. "Want to play?" She asked while tilting back her body to avoid the lunge. "Ok then, catch me if you can!" Cloe screamed with childish excitement as she ran in the opposite direction. The lizard was shocked the small prey escaped, soon turning to anger and gave chase to the small human.
The winged lizard furiously tried to catch the girl but always missed right as she was tantalisingly close. In rage it shot a line of fire towards her thinking this was it, but she just dodged. The worst part about it was that it didn't smell or look afraid as most would, just happy; like a child receiving a new toy.
Just as the winged lizard despaired over losing its prey, they reached an expanse over a cliff and a bloodthirsty smile appeared on its scaly face.
"Aww… you caught me, my turn now!" As soon as those words left her mouth, Cloe morphed into the same winged lizard in front of her with a few differences: her scales were dark with blue and white merging at different spots, and piercing violet eyes. (Imagine the photo of the other deadly nadder but darker)
The winged lizard was shocked and afraid, but before it could take it all in, the other winged lizard jumped ran towards it. In its desperate attempt to harm the weird dragon, it swiped its claws and smacked her away. Cloe quickly got up and rushed towards the dragon and ducked under a fire blast.
"Ok, let's play rough then!" Still with the same childish amusement from the start she dug her fangs deep into the others neck until it started convulsing and eventually laying limp in its own pool of blood.
Cloe returned to her original form with a wide smile on her mouth before shouting "That was FUN!!" Every creature in the area heard it sending shivers down their spine before running away. A group of dragon riders also heard the shout and went to investigate.
"Hiccup, that sounded like a little girl. She could be in danger! Best we check it out." Shouted Fishlegs clearly distressed. "Oh who cares about some kid, probably just having fun or something." Retorted Snotlout before being smacked on the back of the head by Astrid, "we can't just leave without checking it out to be sure!" Snarled Astrid, annoyed at how he would just leave a little girl down there. "All of you, calm down; we are not leaving until we are sure that kid is safe, but we need to be careful because it could be one of Johann's traps so eyes open everyone." Finally responded Hiccup in an exasperated yet urgent tone.
While that was happening in the skies, Cloe felt her adrenaline fade as she stopped playing around, thinking it best to rest on the corpse of her ex playmate. "I feel so weird, I think I'll to close my eyes for a little… while… zzz." Faint snoring could be heard from Cloe, the scene would look adorable if not for her being naked, caked in blood, and on top of the corpse of a dragon.
When they reached the scene, they all turned to stone. They saw a small girl covered in blood with a smile on her face laying next to the corpse of a Deadly Nadder.
Toothless and the other three dragons instantly found themselves in a defensive posture because of the sleeping girl, the smell of a fresh kill radiated off of Cloe as if proving she killed the Nadder. "What in the name of Thor happened here?!" Asked Fishlegs, shocked at the sight of the little girl. None of them knew what to do until Astrid walked up to the dragons neck and saw deep bite marks, "whatever it was, it couldn't have been the kid because these are bite marks." All of them heaved an involuntary sigh at her words thinking it wasn't the girl, except for the dragons, still as tense as before but slightly confused.
Toothless growled to Hiccup to get his attention. Once he did, he pointed at the still sleeping girl and growled to make a point. Hiccup seemingly understood and addressed the others. "Toothless and the others don't trust the girl, how about you wake her up and ask her, something to wear would do her some good as well." Astrid stopped facing the dragon and walked over to the girl, still oblivious to what's happening around her. "Hey kid, wake up." She shook Cloe and her eyes groggily looked up to the person who woke her up. All her enthusiasm started up again, Cloe forgot she was sleeping and greeted all of the people around her, "hello, nice to meet you, my name is Cloe. Want to play?" Hiccup shook his head at her and spoke in the kindest tone he could "hi Cloe, sorry no we can't play with you. But can you tell us what happened here?" Cloe got a little sad because he didn't want to play but she still told him what he wanted. "Too bad. Anyway, what happened here was the winged lizard was playing tag with me until it was my turn, then we changed the game to play-fighting. The loser is the one that stopped moving and I won hahah!" Cloe had a proud look on her face for winning the game.
They all froze.
Cloe noticed that something was wrong. "What happened? Why are you all stiff?"
Hiccup unfroze first and hid his shock before inquiring, "a-and how did you win?" "Like this!" Proclaimed Cloe before beginning the transformation. In one second the girl was gone, and in her place stood a Deadly Nadder.
Snotlout thought he lost it or he was dreaming, Fishlegs outright fainted, and Astrid was starting to understand the story. Hiccup was frozen, but before he could say anything, Toothless shot a plasma blast at Cloe and ran put himself in front of Hiccup. "Hey! You can't start play fighting without warning me first!" Shouted Cloe in displeasure. She then started changing into a night fury but with violet eyes.
"Wait! We're sorry we can't play with now, but if you come back with us you can play other games with us. Just no more play fighting." Hiccup realised that Cloe is much stronger than them even though she acts like a child, plus she doesn't have any problems with killing all of them.
"Do you promise?" Cloe had changed back in into her human form.
"Yes, come and we'll show you." Hiccup was still scared of Cloe, but he was too curious about her to just leave her here.
'Even though it's underhanded to use her desire to play as a way to monitor and study her, she is too strange to be left alone and if Johann and the dragon hunters trick her we are toast!' Now determined, Hiccup started thinking about where to keep Cloe.
"Hey Cloe, there is a place with lots of people to play with. You can go as long as you don't fight or play fight with anyone." Hiccup decided to resupply at Dragons Edge and keep going to Berk.
"Sure! But why can't I play fight with others?" Cloe tilted her head in confusion, why couldn't she play a game? "Because, if you make your playmate stop moving they can't play with you anymore." Hiccup calmly explained his reasoning. Cloe fell deep in thought. Looking back at her old playmate still laying cold on the floor, it hadn't gotten up to keep playing. "You're right! Thanks Hiccup!" Hiccup didn't know how such a cute girl could be so terrifying.
"Let's get going, just let me grab my friends." Just as Hiccups finished speaking Astrid, who's been oddly quiet until now, kicked Fishlegs and bonked Snotlout to get them up. Even after both of them snapped back to reality, they were still too shocked to actually say anything so they quietly mounted their dragons.
"Ok then! You're gonna have to get on one of the dragons unless you know how to fly." Hiccup spoke not sure if she even knew what flying was. And disappoint she did not as she asked "What's flying?" Having mentally prepared himself, he explained. "Flying is using the wings on your back when you're a dragon and get off the ground." Cloe instantly transformed into a night fury and flapped her wings. This gave her a boost, but without control she fell back to earth's embrace.
Suddenly, Cloe felt an uncomfortable feeling on her face making her her eyes water. "Hiccup! My face hurts! Make it stop!" Cloe was shouting/crying to Hiccup to get rid of her newfound pain.
"You haven't gotten hurt before?" Hiccup asked in slight confusion. How could anyone not know about pain?
"How old are you?" Hiccup was curious, the girl didn't look older than seven.
Completely forgetting about the pain, Cloe responded "I was with Void for a little bit and since the sun was on that side," pointing towards the east and trailing by westward until her finger settled on the setting sun.
Hiccup was shocked Cloe was only one day old, confirming his theory of her not being human. Most importantly though, he needed to know who Void is "Void's a pretty name, can you tell me who she is?" Cloe was enthusiastic about talking over Void because she was her first contact with intelligence, plus she is her 'mother' "Sure! Void's my mortal equivalent of a mother because I was made of a part of her by accident. She sent me here so I can experience new things before moving to another world" Hiccup decided to just ignore the last part before his head explodes. "Got it, well back to trying to fly, wanna try again?" Cloe thought about the pain and furiously shook her head in disagreement. "Too bad, you can ride with me and toothless then" Hiccup was sad she wouldn't try again but they couldn't stay here forever. Toothless heard his name and walked to Hiccup's side, still slightly cautious about the human cub.
"Sure! Oh, sorry Toothless for trying to play fight with you. I didn't know you can't play with me again if I do that." Cloe had a regretful expression on her face. After seeing this, Toothless walked up to her face and rubbed his head against hers. ""Hahahahaha."" Both Hiccup and Cloe laughed, Hiccup laughed because Toothless got convinced so easily, while Cloe was laughing because she was ticklish and happy. "Well that settles it you'll fly with us. All right gang let's move out!" After giving the signal they all jumped into the air. Cloe was surprised by the sudden rush of wind and adrenaline. Luckily, Hiccup was paying attention to her and caught her before she fell 'That was close, if she actually fell, she would have refused to fly as well.' Swearing to himself to make sure to change her feelings on flying. After 30 min Cloe started to feel bored, basically immune to the rush of air at this point, she started asking what all little kids ask. "Are we there yet?" "No," "what about now?" "Nope," "now?" "Again no," they kept going back and forth until Snotlout lost it and screamed. "Shut up you brat! Why did we bring her!" Cloe didn't like that the meat bag was shouting at her, using the laser attack she copied from the deadly Nadder, she opened her mouth the ray of fire shot directly towards him. Clearly not having expected that, Hookfang couldn't dodge or block, effectively blowing them both out of the sky. Hiccup just sighed and dive to grab the snot of louts while Astrid dived for the victim (Hookfang). Meanwhile, Fishlegs made a mental note to not make her mad.
Finally the island was in sight, Hiccup told Cloe this was only a stop for her and that she'd be going to a more exciting place called Berk. She was barely paying attention as she had one thought, what new games and adventures this place was going to bring.
