Contract Marriage: Emperor CEO's Secretary Wife

"Be my son's mother." He stated as he pushed the marriage form in front of her. "Marry me." As his secretary, she was used to his glares but this time, his stare felt like he was gobbling her up into his stomach. It was hypnotizing yet, she didn't fall for it. Anger filled her up as she stood her ground. "I refuse." His gaze hardened as the both of them stared at each other. Slowly, he rose from his seat and held her chin. "You won't be able to escape. You're mine." She slapped his hand away and stood up. "We'll see about that." She made her way to the door and left the room.

"To be Lu Qiang's mother, we're a bit concerned about whether you really be fine with the sudden change of priorities or not."

The Xiu couple knew their daughter very well. After that incident, their daughter's personality took for a turn. She became too engrossed in being independent and her priorities, she was too busy to even visit home when she started working.

And now with the little kid in the picture, Xiu Mei needed to change her priorities. Both of them wanted to teach her that among all others, Family still needs to be the priority. Especially when one has children, and that's exactly the concern the Xiu couple have been thinking about for the past few hours the first time they met Lu Qiang.

Xiu Mei listened to their words very seriously as she contemplated on it. Her gaze drifted to the door across the room, as if she could see the sleeping child on the other side of the wall.

After spending some time with Lu Qiang, she actually already made up her mind to be her mother. If not, she'll just be a guardian until Lu Qiang grows up to be a fine man. She do not wish to marry Lu Chen just because of some rash decision, and she didn't want to give Lu Qiang a fake sense of family.

She greatly wishes for him to grow up in a complete and loving family.

Biting her lip, Xiu Mei's gaze stayed glued on the door for quite some time until she finally felt sleepiness taking over her consciousness.

Xiu Mei had to spend some time in the hospital so she quickly asked her assistant to bring her laptop to the hospital to do some of the work that can be finished right at the moment.

She had even argued with her parents and insisted on working despite being injured, and knowing how stubborn she was, her parents raised the white flag after a couple more words. Really, what is the use of having a stubborn child?

Throughout the week, her visitors were just either her parents, siblings, Lu Qiang and Lu Chen. Lu Shao and her assistant would sometimes drop by but only for a little while since they're the ones mostly holding the fort right now in the company. Why?

Lu Chen…. Xiu Mei couldn't stop shaking her head while remembering it. Lu Chen, he… he insisted on staying by her side for long hours every day. He also brought his laptop with him and works in her room. He would pull a table beside her bed and work there, so that in case she needed something, she could easily call out to him.

Xiu Mei thought that Lu Chen must've forgotten that it was only her head that was injured and not her mouth. She could still call his name properly right? It's not like I have to do sign language nor tap him to call his attention.

And well, since these two workaholics are holed up together in one room, it couldn't be avoided that most of their conversations are all about work.

Lu Qiang would often come in the room while the two of them are in the midst of a debate about some proposal, and other company matters that he do not understand. Being an intelligent child, he understands that his Mom loves to work as much as his Dad does. At the first few days, he tried talking out and acting cute in front of his Mom to discourage her from working, but she was really stubborn like his Dad.

She still pushed herself to work and now, here they are at this situation.

The little family of three with the two adults working and the little kid doing his homework on the sofa.

"Little Qiang, can you come here?" Xiu Mei called the little kid who was in the midst of drawing something. Lu Qiang being on alert quickly approached his Mom's bed and climbed on it after seeing his Mom tapping the bed signaling him to climb on it.

Settling himself on the bed, he cocked his head as if to ask his Mom what does she need from him. Xiu Mei just finished eating her lunch and she has some juice and fruits beside the table so he was sure she wouldn't ask about food. His Mom knew that the doctor is still strictly controlling all the foods she's eating.

"Let me just recharge real quick, okay?" Xiu Mei softly said as she wrapped her arms around the little kid. She instantly warmed up with the small heat pack-like body she was currently hugging.

Ah, so warm and so cute!

Xiu Mei felt glee and relaxed. She rubbed his hair as she tightened her hug to him, unconsciously squeezing him. She then felt the little guy's arms trying to hug her body too, as it wrapped around the sides of her waist. Since his arms are still short, he could only wrap it around until her waist.

She chuckled as Lu Qiang drilled deeper in her arms, nuzzling his face on her chest.

She found the action quite cute so she pulled Lu Qiang even closer to her, settling him perfectly on her lap.

While the mother-son pair was busy recharging and enjoying each other's warmth, unbeknownst to them, there is a big envious guy on the side watching them from his computer screen's reflection and his peripheral vision.

Been off the radar for quite some time. #WhyIsAdultingSoHard

Hopefully will pick up the pace again soon.
