Xerope's rule was a harsh one, with a strict set of laws and punishments for those that disobeyed. He set up a secret police force to keep watch over the population, and anyone that he perceived to be a threat to his power was swiftly dealt with. He also increased taxes to fund his military, and to pay for the many public works projects he initiated. This created a great deal of resentment among the people, and eventually the people of Zombo began to rebel against his rule.

Xerope was eventually overthrown by a popular revolution, and the people of Zombo were able to return to their democratic ways of life. They also instituted a series of reforms to make sure that a similar situation would never happen again. The government was now more accountable to the people, and the military was reduced in size and influence. The economy also began to recover, and Zombo was able to enjoy a period of relative stability and prosperity.
