A pampered young master type

Time gradually passed for the group. After a whole day of waiting, another group of participants exited the cave and as they did, gave their information to Carter. Like Xuan Li and his group, they sat around the open circular field and chatted among themselves.

After three hours, three more groups exited the labyrinth but their clothes were heavily torn and some were using their comrades to support themselves. There was one with a bloody bandage across his right eye. Fortunately, Carter explained to him that if he is accepted, the Academy will restore his missing eye.

After two days, more than five groups exited the Labyrinth in a more sorry state than the last groups.

While they waited, Xuan Li's group had to stop talking to Carter and Sapphire when the group after them exited the Labyrinth because they had to look professional and they don't want the other groups to think they are favoured even though they have already been accepted.

Though the place was a bit more packed, the different groups tended not to speak to each other and kept to themselves. Xuan Li and Iris didn't both try to socialise but Flav attempted to speak with a few but only received a cold glare. However, most female participants went up to their group because they wanted to pet the baby panther. All of them tried but the baby panther gave them a cold glare which just made them squeal in excitement more.

Eventually Xuan Li and Flav had to put a stop to their harassment and told them to kindly go away which they were greatly displeased and proceeded to call them ugly.

During their wait, Flav tried his best to talk with Iris like a loved struck puppy and tried to learn more about her. Unfortunately, Iris wasn't very talkative at first and would just reply to him but not actually initiate her own conversation. But, thanks to Flav's constant persistence to talk with her, she eventually started being a bit more talkative though it was clear there was no hope for Flav.

Xuan Li could only talk to the baby panther while waiting since Flav was too busy trying to get closer with Iris. Most of their conversation though was about the other being more stupid and other petty arguments.

During the night, Xuan Li kept waking up his group and others with his night terrors that Sapphire did a checkup on his health and to see if he was affected by any spells. The result was that his health was fine and there was no spell inflicting him so she set up a sound proof magic circle that prevented any noise from escaping and entering, allowing Xuan Li to not disturb the others.

Though there were a different variety of cultivators and mages, they weren't being very alert with each other unless a group came up to them. That was mainly because of the examiner's presence who could easily beat everyone there.

The third and final day approached and the first three hours, only a single participant exited the Labyrinth. This was the first time that they saw only one person exiting and they found out that the participant did have a party of six but they all perished. Everyone looked at that participant with sympathy.

There was only one hour left and a total of 24 individuals were waiting patiently for the next examination.

Once there was only thirty minutes left, everyone thought that no one else would come out the cave exit that links to the Labyrinth.

"Young master, we have arrived." A voice echoed from the entrance.

"Finally, my legs would have gotten sore if we stayed any longer" A posh and pampered voice echoed from the entrance.

A group of six exited the Labyrinth with only the first person having some equipment and armour while the other four, two boys and two girls, wore some good quality looking robes. However, the plump man in the middle, who wore a yellow coloured robe, had his hands behind his back and back as straight as possible which further heightened his fat belly.

"Ah, I see that you all have come to welcome my arrival." The fat man stepped forward from his group.

"Welcome, you have barely managed to qualify for the next examination. Please tell me your details." Carter welcomed the group with slight annoyance. He could tell they will be troublesome.

"We know that already! Haven't you heard the saying of saving the best till last? Gu Hui is clearly the best!" One of the girls spoke up.

"Now now, we should be humble as some here may be our classmates in the coming future. My name Gu Hui, from the prestigious Gu family of Trans City, I am a rank three, Qi Awakening cultivator while at the age of twenty…" He started to proudly tell his details to Carter, who wrote them down with a forced smile.

"My name is…"

"I'm from…."

"Age…"

The two males and females also listed their details with immense pride like Gu Hui.

"What about you?" Carter stared at the soldier like male whose voice they all heard first.

"My name is Mark, I am a personal bodyguard of Gu Hui and I am a tier three cultivator. I am nineteen years old…" He started to give his details after receiving a nod from Gu Hui. His tone was deep and soothing to the ear. His whole nature was completely different from his group.

"He's probably a commoner that was raised specifically to become a bodyguard." Flav commented to Xuan Li.

"Wow, look at those muscles! He could probably crush someone's face with those hands! Maybe I should-" Before Xuan Li could finish his sentence, he was smacked by Flav's Qi powered fist.

"No. Behave." He said to Li.

Xuan Li could only nod with a frown.

"Are we ready to start the next trial?" Gu Hui asked.

"No, there is still twenty minutes left." Carter replied indifferently.

"Psh, Mr Carter, we are the last group. There is no one else that would come through now that, the best for last, have arrived." Gu Hui smugly answered back.

'Oh boy, so this is the pampered young master type. Finally encountered one eh?' Xuan Li thought with a smirk.
