Don’t Look Back

Scott drove Diana to the hospital. She made Diana try on different clothes that would hide her curves, and make her go unnoticed in a crowd. But it seems like, she stands out on anything she wears. Losing her patience, Diana ended up wearing a black turtle neck long sleeves and a grey plaid sleek trousers.

As soon as they hit the hospital's driveway, all eyes shifted to the blue sportscar with a dashing man coming out of it. Scott opened the car door for Diana, whom he held on the waist and kissed before letting go. Diana could just bite her lip and tried so hard to hide her smile as she roll her eyes on Scott.

Scott nodded at Cory, who's been waiting at the entrance. He will stay undercover to look after Diana. Before getting in the car, he glanced at David and Austin who were guarding the hospital vicinity.

Diana hurriedly went inside going to her office. She said hi to Kate who was preparing her schedule for the day. She opened the door of her office, and found her mother to her surprise.

"You didn't sleep at home last night. I was worried", Alva, wearing a red suit standing upfront as she graze the edge of Diana's glass table.

Diana went in and placed her purse on top of the wooden filing cabinet. "Sorry mother. I forgot to call", she replied.

"I heard you resigned as a board member and got suspended because of a certain doctor?" Alva squinted at Diana as she turn the swivel chair to sit down.

"I did resigned on my own and got suspended at my fault", Diana remained standing with her hands in her pockets in the middle of her office.

"Calvin will take care of it, as how I would take care of you, I'm sure.", Alva said with her clenched hands raised on top of the table.

"Please stay out of it. It's my job, my life and my decision", Diana clearly said.

"But everything I do…is for you, Diana", Alva said with a smirk.

"I'm moving out mother. I've seen a place for myself.", Diana gazed at her mother's eyes who seemed very distant. She even wondered if were they really like this each time they talk.

"Are you asking?", Alva lifted her brows at her daughter.

"I'm telling.", giving her a smile. The last time She asked to move out, She positively agreed when her mother instantly said no. But now's different.

"I'll have Hendrick prepare your things then. Calvin will be glad to help too", Alva offered.

"Thanks mother, you are most kind. Though, I don't want to disturb Calvin, he has more important things to do on his own", Diana refused.

"Fine", Alva clicked her tongue as she stood up. "Just remember, don't go crying back at my doorstep", Alva added. Diana squinted at her mother's reply.

"I'm leaving now, Dee", she walked towards Diana. "Don't look back.", Alva whispered on her ear as she led herself out.

Diana was left baffled and disturbed with the brief conversation they just had. Despite her mother being surprisingly and easily in approval of her leaving home, she can't help but wonder what her mother is scheming this time.

She started her patient rounds and had Dr. Murphy as first on her list. He was complaining about the awful hospital food served to him and how boring it is to just answer crossword puzzles all the time. He seems okay she thought, as she check him for vampire marks.

After a few more patients, Diana headed to the stock room to check for some medical supplies for her residents' surgeries this afternoon. The stock room has seven organized metal shelves filled with packs, tubings, gauze, pads and all other medical consumables. She opened the lights and groaned at the busted light. Diana used her phone to light her way.

While checking, she felt a cold presence lurking in the darker part of the room. She bravely directed the light and saw no one. Diana continued checking when she heard a creaking sound. When she was about to look again, someone jumped on her and covered her mouth, dropping her phone.

"Shhh", Dr. Blackwell hushed Diana and asked her to keep quiet.

Diana was startled and held on to Dr. Blackwell's hand covering her mouth. When he removed his hand, Diana whispered, "What's going on?"

Without any word, Dr. Blackwell led Diana to the door slowly. Diana couldn't understand what's happening. She let go of Dr. Blackwell and went back to get her phone on the floor. She slowly go after him and stopped when the lights suddenly lit.

She saw Dr. Blackwell's eyes widen when she heard someone said, "Don't look back, Diana".

She turned around and saw Dr. Miller with his bloodshot eyes standing against the wall. He was staring blankly, and then charged at them showing his sharp fangs.

In a blink of an eye, Dr. Blackwell pushed Diana away and shifted to a brown wolf attacking Dr. Miller.

Diana fell down and watched how Dr. Blackwell beat down Dr. Miller. Being a newborn vampire, Dr. Miller took the upperhand as he punch Dr. Blackwell in the abdomen.

Cory opened the door and saw the pack's Luna on the floor, pointing her finger at the supernatural brawl in the stockroom. He hurriedly helped her up, and quickly shifted to his wolf form to aid Dr. Blackwell. He easily tore Dr. Miller to pieces, as he turn to ashes.

She readied blankets and gowns to cover up the wolves who saved her life before they shifted back to their human forms.

Dr. Blackwell who was sweating so much, and catching his breath smiled at Diana as he press on his rib. "I've never had a fight with vampires for years, getting rusty now I think.", he laughed as he panted.

"Thanks Dr. Blackwell. I didn't know you're a wolf", She smiled and hugged her mentor.

"Glad you're safe, kid", he patted her on her head. "Come on lad, help the old man up", Dr. Blackwell said to Cory who was just finished putting on a patient's gown.
