Alla reached out and lifted the loose fabric of his house robe, revealing the sterile dressings that covered his back.

Yet despite his unhealed wounds, he got out of bed to deal with Lester's affairs.

The idea of pushing ahead with the wedding while he was still in such a state was something Alla couldn't bear.

"Go back to bed and rest first. We can talk about the wedding later, okay?"

She gently laid down the clothing and, taking hold of his arm, tried to help him back to bed, but he firmly grasped her wrist.

"Alla, are you having second thoughts about marrying me again?"

When he looked down at her, his eyes were rimmed with red. How could she dismiss the wedding he had longed for with a mere 'we'll talk about it'?
