Chaotic System: A Former Assassin in the Game of the Gods

For too long, Riku was content with the simple life of a sushi chef. Having left behind the hectic life of an assassin, his knife now only knows the flesh of fish and food as he hones his craft with both the poor and rich alike. His skills translated well into running his restaurant, his professionalism and dedication to having a perfect record refusing to leave him even in such a low stakes job as running a sushi restaurant.  But then, just as he was cleaning up, he was whisked away to participate in a game that would determine the new god of all existence. While lacking in knowledge about his new surroundings, Riku is still a professional through and through. Offered with the bounty of having his unconditional wishes granted, the Goddess that summoned him wishes for him to win her this game. Well, then he'll just have to make sure that their victory will be as complete as he could possibly make it... Against fantastical beasts and opponent Champions, his skills as an assassin and a combatant will be put to the test. He'll just have to make this Chaotic System actually work to his favor instead of it randomly spitting out nonsensical situational powers that he couldn't use. *** The Deep Blue... The home of the Gods... For eons, the Thirteen Gods have lived together in harmony together with the God Father within the Deep Blue's calm waters. Together, they watched over the universe, content with simply observing as they all worked in tandem with their respective aspects to exact their Father's will. That was, until the God Father died without explanation, and His power locked away until a successor was chosen among His children. Left with an ultimatum, the Thirteen Gods argued on who should inherit their Father's power. Eventually, the arguments became clashes, and the gods eventually realized that them fighting to the death would spell the end of the world. Thus, an agreement was formed. Each of the Thirteen Gods would choose a champion from the sea of souls to fight on their behalf. These champions would brave the Deep Blue's dangers to reach the very bottom of its depths, and whoever gets there first would grant their patron god the right to inherit the God Father's power. Or at least, that was the original agreement. One goddess chose to defy her siblings, deciding to take matters into her own hands by choosing a former assassin-turned-sushi chef as her Champion. Granting him a power well beyond the rules of the game, she is certain that Riku would be the one to end her siblings' endless debates. After all, a goddess of chaos need not to follow the rules...

{NYX POV}

'Something came up. Give me the hint so that we can get out of here.'

"What in the world is going on over there..."

Nyx couldn't help but whisper to herself in both confusion and excitement as she suddenly felt Riku's connection with her cut off. She was about to force the connection back on, but a part of her told her that he was too busy to even answer her at the moment. From there, her curiosity got the better of her as she decided to have a look at her Champion instead. Only... That wasn't what happened. Instead, she felt her connection with her Aspect waver ever so slightly. It wasn't much that it was an inconvenience, but it was enough that she didn't want to bother trying anymore.

Clearly, her rule breaking was starting to get too much for her again.

"The things I sacrifice to get a chance at winning," she sighed to herself. "I guess I should just go there myself and see what's happening."

Standing up, the Goddess of Chaos decided that she'd rather walk to her destination instead of simply materializing there in the middle of what's probably a battlefield. After all, he knew that Astra's pet galaxies would probably be firing nonstop by now, and she really didn't want to get all dirty again because she wasn't prepared. But first...

/Right, so listen up, my Champion,/ she began as she put on a bit of her goddess persona for the job. /The journey forward continues once all is centrically aligned. There, that's much better, isn't it?/

The silence that followed was only broken by her own footsteps as she began walking forward, ignoring the stray stars that went past her and casually batting away some that went close enough to her face to be a bother. Seriously, he got why Astra wanted some liveliness in his personal Realm, but did he really have to up their numbers just for this?

'That's... still vague, but added with the other hints, I'm starting to get a clearer picture,' his Champion stated. 'I can work something with this. Thank you for your efforts, Nyx.'

/Gladly, my Champion./

Despite herself, Nyx couldn't help but feel pride at being praised by Riku again. Like last time, something pleasant bloomed within her chest, and she felt her cheeks flush ever so slightly. She wasn't oblivious, of course. She knew what it meant to be partially attracted to someone. She just didn't think that it would happen to her during this era.

"What I'm going to do..."

While her tone said otherwise, she truly didn't care whether or not she would fall in love with a mortal again. As a goddess, it was normal for her to have a few encounters with mortals. In fact, she knew for a fact her siblings had fathered and mothered a few demigods throughout the eons against the God Father's wishes. Not that they ever knew He was disappointed though since He never really admonished them for it, but Nyx had been on the receiving end of His lectures about it. It was one of the rare instances that He got mad at her, and it was the reason why she was the only one that didn't have her children running around in the mortal planes.

"I'm getting sidetracked again..." she chuckled to herself. "Then again, what's there to do right now other than to have fun?"

Nyx couldn't help but smile as she casually walked through the literal shower of shooting stars weakly hitting her clothes and skin. They were nothing to a deity, but she could tell that her Champion was having a difficult time navigating the planetarium. Not that it wasn't a pain for her and her siblings to deal with, however. These things were the sole reason getting to Astra's office was such a pain in the first place.

After all, every hit they made would change the location of the office by a good inch.

"Oh, fancy seeing you here, Little Nyx."

The familiar voice of a fellow goddess stopped Nyx in her tracks. Looking to her side, the familiar visage of Ragnarok made her heart stop sinking at the prospect of her being another sibling that was liable to bully her. Again, the Herald of the End, was one of the few that never really bothered bullying her. In fact, she could tell in her eyes that she hated what was happening to her, but was simply powerless to stop it.

Somehow, she could tell that there was a story to it.

"Ah, Big Sis Ragnarok," the Goddess of Chaos greeted with a soft smile. "I didn't think I'd see you here. Where's your Champion?"

"Her? She just ran off to try and kill your and Big Brother Tyche's Champions," Ragnarok innocently stated. "I hope you don't mind it."

"Oh, not at all. I'm confident in my Champion's abilities," Nyx smugly stated. "I'm guessing you're just casually making your way to your Champion too then?"

"That was the plan, but since you're here, we might as well take our time," the elder goddess cheerily suggested. "Share some information if you want, or just spend time with one another without others prying."

Nyx immediately caught the hint of eagerness in her elder sister's voice. That... highly uncharacteristic of the cheery and innocent Ragnarok that she they all knew. But then again, maybe that was just her paranoid persona creeping in. Surely, the airhead of them all wasn't thinking of anything other than just enjoying her time with her.

"Sure, Big Sis," Nyx hummed. "Do you have something in mind to talk about? Maybe some of the worlds you just ended?"

"Little Nyx, you know I don't really enjoy my purpose. It feels bad to snuff out entire universes just because they're about to decay badly," Ragnarok pouted. "No, I just want to spend some time with my one and only little sister~"

Nyx chuckled at that. Of course, Ragnarok would be the only one to say that. She was the second youngest of them all, after all.
