When I made myself comfortable at the couch, Gabriel slid his glowing hands gently down along my thighs. There was a burning sensation inside my bones that was nearly unbearable that it made me question his healing abilities.
Was it working or had it worsened?
I grit my teeth as I tried to be brave, but I couldn't stop a scream from slipping out. Every muscle, every inch of my skin, and every bone in my body was lit up with pain as though someone had filled my bloodstream with flaming-hot shards of glass.
"Gabriel, please be careful." I hissed, every syllable sending threads of pain in my stomach. I tried to relax as Gabriel raised my arms and my ribs to check for other broken bones. Right before I could beg Gabriel to stop, the burning mercifully ended.
Gritting my teeth as I took deep, calming breaths, I decided to open my eyes. When I did, I saw Gabriel's luminous blue eyes looking down at me with concern.
