Chapter 12: What did Vadal know

The assistant's eyes filled with empathy as he looked at Vadal. He could see the pain and the turmoil that was brewing inside him. The young master's usual confidence and composure had been shattered, and he was left with a deep sense of sadness and despair. The assistant felt a surge of anger towards Lira, the heartless devil who had caused his young master so much pain.

Vadal's hands calmly took the file from the assistant. He stared at it, his eyes fixed on the cover, as if struggling to decide whether to open it or not. The assistant could sense his hesitation, his fear of what he might find inside. Would it be Lira's betrayal, her scheming, or something else entirely? The uncertainty was eating away at Vadal, and the assistant could see the turmoil that was raging inside him.

The assistant's voice was barely above a whisper as he spoke, "Young Master, perhaps you should sit down before you open that. You don't look well." Vadal's eyes didn't leave the file, but he nodded slightly, his face pale and drawn. The assistant quickly pulled up a chair, helping Vadal to sit down, his eyes never leaving his young master's face.

Vadal slowly opened the file, reading it with a glance, his eyes narrowing as he read and scrolled to the next page. His face turned darker and darker, his expression a picture of growing anger and confusion.

"What is the meaning of this?" he asked, his voice oppressive, like a weight crushing the air out of the room. The assistant swallowed hard, knowing that he had to tread carefully.

The assistant took a deep breath and began to explain, "Young Master, I did everything I should do and reinvestigated Young Miss's whereabouts in the past few days, from last week to this week. But it all showed that she only met with her friends and step-sister, Emma. There is no sign of her meeting with Laurent."

The assistant continued, "I also checked her last two weeks' activities and daily routine. She went to her father's house and met with Young Master Laurent there, but they have never met again until yesterday." Vadal's eyes snapped up, his gaze piercing, as if daring the assistant to continue.

His expression turned calculating, his mind racing with the implications of the assistant's words. He thought back to his conversations with Lira, whenever she came back sometimes even sneaking out and into the estate making him angry and jealous thinking that she met with Laurent. whenever he asked her where she went to she always clame that she went to see her lover Laurent shattering his heart into pieces, and he end up keeping her house arrest as her punishment and so that she will never meet again with Laurent for a while. Thinking about these and the way she had seemed so innocent and pure acting cute like a good wife these days, he became even more confuse. Is it that I don't understand you well or are you playing tricks on me. she has been playing him from the very beginning".

Vadal's anger grew with each passing moment, his fury simmering just below the surface. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest, his breath coming in short gasps. He was torn between miss judging this little wife of his and his need for answers.

Lira woke up in her bed, stretching her body and rubbing her sleepy eyes. She looked around her room, taking in the familiar surroundings, and a sense of calm washed over her. As she sat up, her hand slid up to her neck, touching the necklace that Vadal had bought for her the night before. A smile spread across her face as she remembered the romantic moment they had shared.

But as she thought back to the events of the previous day, her smile began to fade. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off, that Vadal's behavior had been strange and distant. She tried to push the thoughts aside, telling herself that she was just being paranoid, but the feeling lingered.

Lira stood up and made her way to the bathroom to freshen up. She turned on the faucet and began to wash her face, the cool water helping to clear her mind. As she patted her face dry with a towel, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Her vibrant eyes looked tired, and her skin was pale. She sighed, feeling a sense of unease that she couldn't explain.

As she brushed her teeth and washed her hands, Lira's mind began to wander back to Vadal. She wondered what he was doing, if he was okay. She had tried to talk to him the night before, but he had been distant and preoccupied. She hoped that today would be a better day, that they could put their differences aside and move forward.

Lira finished her morning routine and made her way back to her bedroom. She got dressed in a simple but elegant outfit, her mind made up to go and find Vadal.

Hmmm , she breathed a sigh and walked out of her room, packing her hair as she made her way down the stairs. The butler, Mrs. Ana, greeted her with a bow, "Good morning, Young Miss." Lira smiled and returned the greeting, "Good morning, Mrs. Ana." As she reached the bottom of the stairs, she saw Vadal sitting on the couch, a document in his hand, staring at her with an intense gaze.

Lira's smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly recovered and walked towards Vadal with a bright smile, "Good morning, husband." She sat beside him and hugged him tightly, trying to gauge his mood. Vadal nodded calmly, his eyes never leaving hers, and touched her face with his fingers. But his touch was cold and distant, and Lira could sense the tension in his body.

The air was thick with unspoken words, and Lira could feel the weight of Vadal's gaze on her. She tried to break the silence, "How are you today, husband?" But Vadal just nodded again, his expression unreadable. Lira's heart began to beat faster, and she wondered what was wrong. Had he discovered something about her and Laurent? Was he angry with her.

Vadal's eyes seemed to bore into her soul, as if searching for any sign of deception. Lira felt a shiver run down her spine, and she knew she had to be careful. She couldn't let Vadal suspect anything, not now, not when she was so close to achieving her goals of patching things up with him. She leaned in closer, trying to distract him with her presence, "What's wrong, husband? You seem troubled."

Vadal's expression didn't change, but his voice was low and even, "I'm just going over some documents, my dear. Nothing to worry about." Lira's eyes narrowed, she knew he was hiding something. But she played along, "Oh, okay. I'll let you get back to work then." She stood up, trying to seem nonchalant, but her heart was racing with anticipation. What did Vadal know, and how would she handle it?
