"I thought you weren't coming home for the New Year's?" Yan Fei, never one for formality, was especially casual with acquaintances. So, when he heard Chief Pi say he was leaving, instead of saying anything to make him stay or asking when he would return, he came out with this strangely sarcastic remark.
There was nothing Chief Pi could do, even if he wanted to. After all, Boss Yan had just been snubbed by Guo Jingya, and even if he didn't care, he couldn't help but feel a subtle annoyance that he himself might not even detect.
"I've been reassigned, and won't be bothering you anymore," Chief Pi sighed after taking a sip of tea. "It's a pity I won't get to drink such good tea after I leave. I do kind of regret having to go, you know?"
"Reassigned?" Yan Fei was somewhat surprised, and overlooked the implication in his words. "Weren't you here on a special assignment? How come you're just being reassigned all of a sudden."
