Arthur flicked his eyes at her, "That's my secret to keep." He said coldly.
Matilda leaned back, smoothly covering up her expression of surprise. "That's certainly allowed. I was just making small talk."
Arthur kept an impenetrable expression, even if he wasn't inclined to give Matilda an answer, it was dangerous to give her an upper hand against him.
Her glittering green eyes reminded him of a venomous snake waiting to strike.
"Money?" Matilda kept talking, refusing to be dissuaded by his disinterest. "Disrespect? Betrayal…"
Arthur gritted his teeth in barely banked anger, he would have shot to his feet and left by then but he had a feeling that that was exactly what Matilda wanted.
"…Jilted love?" She kept listing off, and despite himself, Arthur's brows shot up.
"Oh?" Matilda quickly caught onto that, her eyes sparkling. "There's no reason to glare at me so hard," She laughed at his reaction.
