When the fear smacked me in the face, I could regain my composure and focus on my purpose. "No need for fear child. You have been absolved of your crimes—in my eyes."
His hands shook violently as he attempted to eat his meal. "Just not in anyone else's." he croaked, his emotions threatening to drown me.
"You will never earn her true forgiveness. Some crimes are like that." I swirled the wine in my hand, enjoying the notes in the scent. This would keep me from falling into his irrationality. "Instead you will hope the damage is minimal and she finds a happiness, far from either of us."
Another harsh swallow of sobs, his face crumpled; his hair fell covering his eyes. "I need to talk to her." He persisted.
My hand gestured dismissively, chucking at his arrogance. "Delusional, son. If I did not intervene—"
