Follow her journey to understand this magical connection to her would-be murderer, discovering love, and understanding if love really is pain... This need for my answer was insatiable, and a bit of rain and dirt wouldn’t stop me. It couldn’t be her! A bit of cloth appeared in the pile, my heart clutching in my chest. I pulled at it, the cloth decomposed enough it ripped easily. A waft of stench overwhelmed my senses—it reeked of death and decay. Another round of sobs doubles me over, my hands still clawing manically at the dirt. Bits of debris stabbed under my nails; the soft flesh tearing, blood pouring from my hands. The mud caked to every part of me; I must have looked like a madwoman… But I had to know, was Madison really gone?" Kavielle pulled out of her self-made isolation and thrown back into the twisted, dark, world she had worked to get away from. Coming back to LA was the last thing she wanted to do, but sometimes, you have to pay a life debt to the people you love.

Chapter 48: Fever dreams

Fever dreams

Vincent POV

The heat rolling through my veins was orgasmic; instincts had taken over, the joy of the kill pulsating. I dreamt of her, she was on a street somewhere, panicked, scared. I tried to stop her, help her. But it was like she couldn't see me. I chased her, the sunlight hurting my eyes, knowing this couldn't be real, I still felt the need to follow.

She crossed the road, falling off the curb, collapsing. People were all around her, but I pushed through, reach my hand out for hers. Looking up at me, she whispered, "Drew." My blood boiled, but grief on her face was too much. The melody haunting me, "I will always be with you…" I sang out loud, hoping this nightmare would be over soon.

Her hand grasped onto mine, as she stood up, looking into my eyes. My heart ached, "My goddess." I sobbed, unable to control myself. She pressed her lips to mine, the warmth shooting through me. After a moment, she was gone again.
