My house

Present day:

Soleil woke up feeling sore to find herself in an unfamiliar room. The moonlight seeping through the velvet curtains was the only thing that gave her an idea of the time.

Her eyes scanned the room as she tried to see if anything would trigger her memory but it was as if her mind was utterly blank; a clean slate. The pounding headache she felt restricted her more from conjuring anything from her memory.

The room was large, and warm, but still somewhat empty despite the furniture lying in every corner. On the huge bed, Soleil felt small and insignificant, like the bed was swallowing her whole.

Using whatever little strength she could summon, Soleil peeled off the thick duvet cover from her body, climbed off the bed, and walked toward the door but before she could reach it, someone beat her to it.

The door opened from the outside and an anxious Vivy came running into her arms.

"You're awake." Vivy cried out as her grip on Soleil tightened. "I was so worried and scared thinking you wouldn't wake up."

"I-I'm fine, Vivy," Soleil spoke, still dazed by the whole ordeal. "What happened to me?" She weakly asked.

"You don't remember anything?"

Soleil shook her head no.

"After you met with Kevin that night, you went off the grid, and by the time morning came, I got a call saying you nearly drowned at sea." Vivian's voice shook as she spoke, reliving the moment all over again, "It wasn't an accident Soleil, you walked into the water to end things... How could you? I know things were bad but not to the extent of you taking such a drastic measure. You didn't think of what that would do to the ones who care for you- you didn't think of me!"

As if on cue, her memories came back and Soleil bowed her head in shame. She could feel Vivian's hurt and anger and she had no idea what to say or do to make things better.

"I've never known you to be someone who gave up easily. What happened to you?"

The warmth of Vivian's hands on hers made Soleil break down into a mess. "I couldn't handle it anymore." Her voice came out as a whisper.

"You could have talked to me. I'm here to listen, whatever it might be, Soleil, I'm always here for you."

"Talking won't fix anything, it won't repair the damage." Soleil snapped.

"And you think dying will?!" It was the first time Soleil ever heard Vivy raise her voice and to an extent, it scared her. "Don't give them what they want. Don't give up on life because of them. You're a fighter Soleil, act like it."

A moment of silence fell over the room after Vivy's outburst, she was too angry to speak, while Soleil on the other hand was too scared to utter a word.

"I'm sorry." Soleil broke the silence, "I'm sorry for giving up, I'm sorry for running away, and I'm sorry for leaving you. You're the only one who has stood by me through thick and thin and it was selfish of me to try to kill myself without thinking of what that would do to you... I'm sorry, Vivian."

The room went silent again and for a second, Soleil thought Vivy still hadn't forgiven her but that second of doubt faded away when Vivy wrapped her arms around her and stroked her back.

"You don't need to be sorry, none of this is your fault... It's okay, everything will be okay. I'm here for you." Vivy reassured her, "How are you feeling?"

"I've seen better days... How about you? Have you been holding up well?"

"I guess you could say we've both seen better days."

They both giggled over their situation and plumped onto the bed tiredly.

"That reminds me, who's house is this?"

Before Vivian could cough out a reply, a voice came out from behind them by the door and answered her question. "My house."

To my readers, I'm so sorry for the late update, I've been busy these days and couldn't write but I'll try to update the story more soon.
