While Jin and Nikolai went inside Ha-yoon's hospital room, Seong-min went outside to see Minnie.
"Minnie, did you came to see Ha-yoon?" Seong-min asked, "No, I'm here cuz it's my job to follow Nikolai everywhere he goes." Minnie replied while averting her eyes away from Seong-min.
Noticing how strange Minnie was acting, Seong-min grabbed the other girl's hand, Minnie instantly felt shy, she nearly snatched her own hand back but somehow didn't.
"Hey, I don't know what's going on with you, but everything is gonna be alright Minnie." Seong-min said Smiling gently at her.
"Thanks gurl." Minnie replied, still avoiding eye-contact.
Sighing, "You know, Although you're older than me, like most of the women I know, I think you've been more fun to hangout with than most girls my age." Seong-min said.
"I still don't believe that you don't have that many friends." Minnie replied.
"Hehe! neither do I! I mean look at me, I'm gorgeous! right?" Seong-min joked.
"You are." Minnie simply replied before she retrieved her hand from Seong-min, this time she made some eye-contact with The younger girl.
"You're really gorgeous, That's why I think...You and I shouldn't be friends." Minnie spoke again.
Confused, "Huh? what do you mean?" Seong-min questioned.
But instead of answering her, Minnie started walking away from Seong-min.
And for some reason, Seong-min didn't follow her, She just stood there watching Minnie who was clearly attempting to get away from her.
"What changed overnight..." She questioned.
...Some time later...
"Wow, look at the time! it's lunch time!" Seong-min said checking the hour.
"I didn't expect you guys to stay this long." Ha-yoon said to Jin.
But before he could say something, "Hey love birds! I think it's time we should go back." Minnie said to Jin and Nikolai as she got inside the room, then she quickly went back outside before Seong-min could say anything to her.
Seong-min sighted, and glanced at her phone's screen, she's been texting Minnie but Minnie wouldn't text back.
"Like I said, I didn't expect you guys to stay this much with me, And knowing your situation... You guys didn't have to come see me." Ha-yoon said while hiding her blush, "We came here to kill some time." Nikolai joked.
Chuckling, "What Nikolai actually meant, is that We came Because we care about you Ha-yoon, I care about you! you're like an older sister to me, and to Seong-min." Jin replied.
"Jin is right! we care about you sweetie, you're a part of our weird family now, although I'm not so sure about the sister thing." Soo-Min said winking, making Ha-yoon's blush intensify, while Joel rolled his eyes.
"Eww! stop Flirting in front of me." Seong-min whispered to her mother, "You're the one who hyped me about pursuing Love, remember princess?" Soo-Min whispered back.
"Ha-yoon, Are you embarrassed that we care about you?" Nikolai Spoke-up giggling, "I bet you're blushing now Yoon, even though I can't really see it." he added.
Grunting, "I'M NOT BLUSHING! AND DON'T CALL ME YOON!" Ha-yoon Shouted annoyed but it only made her friends laugh at how embarrassed she felt, "You're right Nikolai, Her face is sooo red!" Joel teased Ha-yoon on purpose.
"IT'S NOT YOU SHITTY ASSHOLE! WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE VISITING ME? WOULDN'T YOU BE HAPPY IF I WAS DEAD?!" Ha-yoon shouted At Joel.
Oddly enough, "Sadly dear, I don't think I'll be happy...You're a strange woman, and you've became an even stranger part of my life.
And As strange as it may sound to you, I somehow consider you as a friend, maybe not a dear friend yet, but regardless of what type of friend you are to me Ha-yoon, I think I'd be hurt by your death rather that be happy.
No one likes to lose friends...Also it would be annoying to attend another funeral of someone I know...I've been attending those a little bit too much lately.
And generally speaking, Funerals suck." Joel's reply earned him a few mixed looks from everyone in the room.
"But there's something special about those funerals, don't you think?" Soo-Min spoke-up, "Huh? what's special?" Seong-min questioned.
"It's a final opportunity to express your love towards the person you lost, and a way to remember that our lives with everyone and everything in it, is not granted forever.
It's a sad truth, that We often don't appreciate our loved ones, until they're gone." Soo-Min explained with a kind smile.
"You're right, sometimes people get too busy with Their lives, they forget about Their relationships...I'm guilty of that." Joel replied.
"I remember some time before her death, my mom told me that I should enjoy life to the fullest, And she said that one of life's greatest Joys...is the bond we create with people, whether they're family, friends or lovers.
Life is better when you live it together with someone you truly love." Jin said smiling, "Before her death, I was too consumed by my own life to maintain my relationship with my mom.
Yeah I had a Strong relationship with her growing-up, but as I grew into a teenager...i started to spend less time with her.
Only when she died, that reality hit me hard...I knew I could've done better with our relationship.
I should've stayed awake just a little bit more, so I can greet her when she comes back home, late at night...I'm sure that would've made her day better.
I should've asked for her help whenever I needed it...instead of thinking I was being a burden to her that way.
I should've insisted that she came with me to Julian's funeral...instead of working her final shift." he added.
"Oppa..." Seong-min could see the sadness seeping from her brother's eyes, even though he was smiling.
"You know, I was pretty dumb! Maybe it was because my mom was so strong and Seemed indestructible, that I took her for granted." Jin spoke again, chuckling.
While Holding Jin's hand in his, "Don't blame yourself too much, you're human, Jinnie." Nikolai said.
"I'm sorry...I must've ruined the mood." Jin apologized, "It's okay, deep talks are good...I hate small talks anyways." Ha-yoon replied.
Smiling, "Guess it's my fault for mentioning how funerals could be a good thing." Soo-Min said while checking her phone that just buzzed, but Joel who had his eyes glued on her, noticed how when Soo-Min checked her phone, her smile dropped.
"I'm sure it's my fault, I mentioned funerals first." Joel said, "Nah, I'm guilty!" Ha-yoon said, "I mentioned death!" she added.
"Let's forget about it.
I Actually brought you something Ha-yoon! it's enough food for two people...I thought you'll enjoy it." Jin said showing Ha-yoon the food containers he brought.
Checking the containers, Ha-yoon instantly grinned, "Leftovers! Yay!" she said so cheerfully, but she ended-up blushing again when she realized how high pitched her voice sounded when she cheered.
"Wow! you really loved last night's dinner!" Soo-Min exclaimed Happily.
"Aww man! now I'm hungry!" Joel whined, "I feel sorry for Ya cuz I ain't sharing with Ya!." Ha-yoon said sticking her tongue out at Joel, then "Soo-Min! do you want to eat with me?" She added asking but Soo-Min shook her head with a no.
"Sorry sweetie, but I'm actually craving something else! also I need to go somewhere so I'll leave Seong-min with you.
I don't think princess is going anywhere." Soo-Min said while glancing at her daughter, "Yeah! I'll stay here, so you can go if you want Eomma." Seong-min replied.
"Ah, Okay." Ha-yoon said a bit disappointed.
Chuckling, "Yes!" Joel cheered quietly, then he turned to Soo-Min, "What are you craving Soo-Min? I was thinking of going somewhere to eat too! we can go together!" Joel Suggested boldly.
"This man is...unbelievable." Seong-min said rolliyher eyes, "Ugh?!" Ha-yoon Looked at Joel with Rage in her eyes, "This scoundrel!" she mumbled underneath her breathes.
"I think you misunderstood Joel, I'm going with someone else." Soo-Min replied.
"Oh! I see!" Joel said, sounding as disappointed as Ha-yoon was earlier.
Sighing in defeat, "These two can't make it more obvious that they're simping for my mom." Seong-min mumbled to herself.
"I'm sorry I feel a bit curious, but Where are you going Soo-Min?" Jin asked.
"A friend just contacted me, I'll grab lunch with them." Soo-Min replied, there was an unusual lack of enthusiasm in her voice all of the sudden.
Suddenly, "I just realized!" Nikolai spoke-up, "Where's Cyrus?" He asked.
A little displeased, "With his dad probably." Seong-min replied, "You sound like you're mad at him." Jin pointed out.
"I am, but it's a talk for another time." Seong-min replied.
Chuckling, "Another lover's quarrel?" Soo-Min whispered making Seong-min blush, "Ha?!...No!" she said shyly.
Surprised, "You're blushing now Seong-min!" Joel commented.
"Ugh...this man!" Seong-min grunted.
...Some time later...
"I'll go get myself a coffee, is that okay with you?" Seong-min said, "Yeah! sure!" Ha-yoon replied.
"Okay, I'll be back." Seong-min said and quickly left the room, as she Walked her way to the cafeteria, she spotted Cyrus on his way there as well.
"Hey! Cyrus!" she called his name while catching-up to him quickly, " Oh! Seong-min! how's Ha-yoon?" he asked her.
Displeased with his question, "You would've known if you came to check on her." Seong-min said.
"Sorry... I'm just going through something." Cyrus replied.
When she noticed his eyes looked tired and red, "Huh? what happened?" Seong-min asked.
"It's about my dad...do you care to listen?" Cyrus asked, "You sound worried...you can tell me anything you want, I'll listen." Seong-min replied.
...Meanwhile...
Ha-yoon paused the episode she was watching, no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't focus on watching when her mind kept racing with thoughts, mainly about Cyrus, "Where the hell is he..." She said to herself.
Then suddenly, someone came into her room, the person rolled Their wheelchair towards her and stopped right besides her bed.
"Joe! how are you feeling?" Ha-yoon said surprised to see the old man, "I'm fine for now...Cyrus told me you got hospitalized, so I came to see you." Joe replied.
"I'm fine too, it's just fatigue.
And Speaking of Cyrus, why didn't he come with you?" Ha-yoon's asked, "He only came for a minute earlier to tell me you where here...he isn't spending much time with me." Joe replied.
"That's weird? when I asked Seong-min, she said Cyrus is with you." Ha-yoon said.
"Cyrus told me he'll be with you, but I guess he and that girl both lied." Joe replied.
"Why would they lie?" Ha-yoon questioned, "It doesn't matter...since we're alone, I think this is a perfect opportunity to ask you something." Joe replied.
"What do you want joe?" Ha-yoon asked curiously, "Get out of my son's life." Joe replied in a serious tone.
Ha-yoon blinked twice in disbelief, "Huh? what are you saying?"
"Cyrus suffered enough because of Julian, don't torture him you too with your love!" Joe replied angrily.
"My love?!" Scoffing, "How can you blame me when I don't even share his feelings?
Aish! I can't believe this old man's audacity!" Ha-yoon said, "I told Cyrus over and over that it's impossible for us to be more than friends!
It's your son who should get out of my life and not the other way around!" She Added.
Nearly shouting, "But he wouldn't! would he? we both know how stubborn he is!" Joe said.
Angry and in disbelief, "So because Your son is stubborn, I have to be the one disappearing?! can you Hear yourself!" Ha-yoon replied.
All of the sudden, "I'm at a late stage of bone cancer...I've already done tests somewhere else and found out about it, that's why I kept refusing to get hospitalized.
I was afraid Cyrus would find out." Joe said, "But by now, I think he already found out." He added with tears forming in his eyes.
"Joe..." Ha-yoon stared at him Dumbfounded, little did he knew.
It's a sad truth, that We often don't appreciate our loved ones, until they're gone.
