Kiera's POV
My room was at the top floor and once the sun rose, it’s rays brightened everything, making it hard to keep the gloomy air my room deserved. But even the sun couldn’t rouse me. I never slept in the first place.
I was afraid that if I slept, I would never come back. I was afraid that the next time I woke up, I would be back in the void, an abyss that left me with no voice. I didn’t ever want to experience that again.
I didn’t have a tv or radio but I could hear sirens wailing for hours on end. There was so much foot traffic, I was almost certain that I had somehow been transported back into Los Angeles. But no, it was just nervous people walking up and down. I wanted to talk to someone, desperately.
But who? The mother who was terrified of me? The new girl Sarah whom I just met a couple of hours ago?
Rhemir. I thought of the earnest boy who wanted to know if I was in trouble.
