Chapter 24: Flying High
Ruby had a knot in the middle of her stomach. Could it be that Severin had followed her after all her warnings? She checked the two numbers on her phone, but neither one of them looked familiar. Ruby’s mother had followed her to her bedroom. “Ruby I hope you have made a clean break with Severin?” her mother asked.
“Yes, Mom. There’s nothing between us anymore. I made it clear to him,” Ruby reassured her mother. “Just be sure that you don’t allow yourself to be exploited by anyone anymore,” Ruby’s mother said, before she left Ruby to deal with her phone calls alone.
Ruby thought it was safe to return the call which was made first. She redialed the number. “Hello, who is this?” she asked.
“Hello Ruby, its Revel. I just called to find out how you’re doing?” Revel, from the band responded.
“Oh, I am doing okay, Revel. Just settling in back home. How is the rest of the group doing?” Ruby asked.
“We are doing well, thanks. I do think Lilah is missing you though,” Revel mentioned.
