Chapter 14: Threatened Dreams
Ruby turned around to see who was talking. She could not believe her eyes when Marion whom Leroy had cheated her with during high school days stood there with a bright smile on her face. “My goodness, how did they allow you onto the ship?” Ruby asked. “Their standards must be dropping,” she added with a sneer.
“Well, for your information, I’m here on business. I am a very good lawyer now,” Marion stated with her head held high, as she sat down opposite Ruby.
“Well, that still remains to be seen. You haven’t really been at it for very long, my friend. By the looks of it though, you are lacking in the area of self-esteem,” Ruby stated.
“Oh and your self-esteem is so high that you’re frightening off all the men in your life. Even new ones, it seems,” Marion replied.
“Oh, now I see. You are so insecure of yourself that you have stooped to stalking me,” Ruby said as she rose and began to walk away.
