When Lily's eyes opened, she was met with an unfamiliar scent. It didn't smell like the vanilla essence cologne that perceived off all her belongings or the rose scented candles Joan burned all day ever since she got them during her summer holiday in France the year before. It smelt different. It smelt new. It even smelt rich.
As her eyelids fluttered, clarifying the image of the scene around her, she soon realized she wasn't in her apartment. The realization jolted her to sit up. In her hastiness, she felt a sharp pain in her head, accompanied by brief dizziness. The back of her throat was very parched and it was a tad painful when she swallowed. She further discovered that her entire body felt funny and not in a good way, which left her with more questions than answers.
