Chapter 22: Exsanguinate Me, Baby
Ophelia rushed down the stairs and into the hallway where Takoda’s room was. It sounded as if the commotion came from this direction, she could only hope it was Takoda and not someone else who had found their way into his home.
She knocked on his door before opening it with a hesitant call of his name. “Takoda? I thought I heard a noi-” She stopped mid-sentence at the sight before her.
Takoda was lying face down on the ground, clearly having tried to get up for some reason and failed miserably. He seemed to have accepted his fate as even now that she was in the room he simply tilted his head so she could hear him and croaked out, “It’s okay. Just leave me here to die. It’s all too much.”
