I stood on the train platform with the wind blowing through my hair, bringing tears to my eyes. Yes, the wind. At least, it was a convenient excuse. I could hear the chatter of my companions, but felt no desire to join them.
This was it for me. I was going home, to Mum and Da and the coven. And though the succession had as yet to happen, my mother had admitted she needed me. Me. So despite my heavy heart, I knew I had to obey.
