EXAM DAY

(*we get to sort of see the main character's true colors get unfolded as he slowly grows to become stronger., guess he's not such a good guy after all)

I woke up in anticipation. Today was finally the day I was most excited, for I now had the chance to go and learn more while getting stronger. I was shaking in excitement; I was now closer to my goal of achieving the peak of this world. Today is the day I woke up early. It was even still dark outside and Jericho was sleeping; I decided to go outside to relax for a bit, I quietly sneaked out once more, it was easy, my agility had gotten pretty good but still not at the level I wanted it to be at, I quickly jumped up to the roof, you could still see the stars shining, it was beautiful and dark.

I laid down on the rooftop still thinking of things I wanted to do 'now I'm practically 100% sure I'll pass this entrance exam, I think I'm around the strength level of the average shinigami, plus with my super healing I have an advantage over other people ' I stayed there just laying down and thinking for a few hours, after that I went back inside and woke up Jericho.

I and she both had breakfast her dad made for us a bowl of steamed rice, miso soup, and grilled fish, all I can say is that it was delicious (bussing) after that we began heading out, we reached a center of a huge market I could have easily found where the caravan was by sensing the spiritual pressure but I decided not to' what if they can sense me sensing their spiritual energy'

I remembered the shinigami I asked telling me it was somewhere near here, but I thought there'd be a line or at least a signing pointing to it. Instead, I tried asking Jericho since she took the test 2 times before.

"do you know where the test is? "

"No, I only knew by asking people I got lucky because they knew where it was. "

Hearing her say that I sighed, seeing that there was no other way of knowing where the tests were I decided to ask a few shopkeepers if they knew where it was, it was only after a few minutes of asking did we get an answer and it was from none other than the fat man I first met when I arrived here

He pointed us towards the end of the market near to the left. We both thanked him multiple times as we ran towards where he pointed. I let Jericho take the lead even though I could easily run circles around her

'in case if she encounters anything weird, it'll be better if it wasn't me.'

although some might say I was being a selfish coward, I was just cautious I didn't want anything bad happening to me like with those two shinigami I fought, and even though she and her dad did shelter me, I don't care for them much.

Right now all I had in mind was becoming stronger, this so-called nice personality I've shown the family was just a facade I helped them in exchange for the shelter and food they provided, but I no longer needed that, therefore I no longer have an obligation to help them

At last, due to Jericho being extremely slow we managed to get there after a good 10 minutes what I saw was pretty normal it was just a big tent with caravans, I saw a lot of people in a long line in front of the tent, besides the tents I saw 6 huge carriages 'are those carriages filled with the new recruitments' I assumed I was correct considering the fact there were 80 districts so they must've done the recruitment in other districts too.

Jericho ushered me to follow her into the line, from my estimates there were a good 56 people in front of us ranging from 12 to 40 years old, I think it was stated in the anime that there was an age limit of 80 so people older than 80 couldn't join the academy but they accepted everyone younger,

"Ryo, I'm so nervous. This is my third time. If I fail, again I'll just give up"

Jericho said while nervously shaking, although I didn't care and I already knew she was going to fail, I still comforted her and said " no you won't I believe in you you'll pass" I stated while giving my best fakest smile, she immediately got happy

"You think so Ryo, if you say so then I'll pass!!"

She said loudly garnering us glares from people in the line, I quickly told her to be quiet, she was still blabbering, but I decided to see how much spiritual energy these people had, I was a little shocked only some of them had around a small but good portion of spiritual energy while the rest were similar to Jerichos which was not a good thing

*TWO HOURS LaTER

Finally, after 2 hours, it was our turn, Jericho went in first because she was in front of me while waiting I looked at the guards standing guard in front of the tent, they were wearing all white and had white clothes covering their faces; I knew they were strong, so I tried my hardest to make my spiritual energy only slightly noticeable so they wouldn't be suspicious if they somehow noticed I was hiding my presence.

After a few minutes, Jericho got out. I immediately knew she had failed. It was pretty obvious she walked out with tears in her eyes.

"Ryo,... I failed," she said in a whimper while hiccuping from her tears. She started walking towards me but I walked around her, not even paying mind to her.

'Her usefulness has expired. I won't be needing her after I enter the academy.' I looked behind me to see her face in shock. She screamed "RYOO!! Why are you avoiding me "I didn't bother explaining instead I told her to" be quiet your making a scene "I opened up the tent and went inside, inside the tent was very spacious, I looked around and saw a lot of strange figures and signs on desks inside the tent everything was red and it was dark except for one small candle on top of a desk, on that desk there was a crystal ball it was so clear it seemed to be transparent, as I got closer I noticed a man sitting behind that desk he like the guards also had a white robe on with a small mask covering his face which was also white.

The only difference was he had a red sign on his forehead. I stood still for a good 5 minutes until he spoke.

"Please come forward"

I did as he said as I slowly walked toward him

"You can sit down "

I sat on the chair across for him "see this crystal ball, put your hands over it and while breathing in and out" I did as he said " now try closing your eyes and channel out the energy you feel deep within yourself "I already knew what he was referring to but I didn't want suspicion to ride, I tried my best at feigning to try

If I'm being honest I was trying, I was trying not to leak too much spiritual pressure from 'ok just breathe in and out while not pouring too much spiritual energy out ' is what I was telling myself, I decided to pour in small amounts at a time,

I heard a gasp of shock I quickly opened my eyes and saw the supervisor with a shocked expression on his face, then I looked down at the crystal ball, it had cracks forming on it and it was glowing to the point where it had little up the inside of the tent; I was inwardly shocked' I know I only let out a small amount of energy, is my reishi so huge that even this amount could crack this crystal ball' I was genuinely surprised it seems that I've been underestimating myself due to the fight I had with those shinigami.

The supervisor suddenly stood up, shaking the table

"Listen, your spiritual pressure is comparable to a shinigami, there's no need for you to take any of the other exams " he stood up and led me into the back of the tent where there was another entry, outside the back, there was another carriage and there were around 7 people in it, I got inside as the supervisor told me "you are now an official student of Shinho academy"…..
