[A/N: Thank you for 1 Million Reads, it means a lot. This is the 3rd Story on my account that hit this milestone.
First of all, I apologize if things get "Meh". This was written right when my shit schedule began. Soon, I'll try to get to a proper Flashback to the Quincy Invasion and whatnot.
Patreon is ahead by 10 chapters, go and read them if interested.
Also, my bad. I accidentally published the chapter that was after this one, that's on me.]
(Genryujin's POV)
"You think this is wise?" Retsu asked, "All three of us here...."
I looked at her, "Why not?" I asked, "It's good that she sees you lot."
Retsu looked at Soi Fon who was standing behind us, "I mean her." She said, "You know how Saito can get."
I nodded, "Right." I said
"Quiet." I heard Gramps said, "They're bringing her out."
We were in front of the gate to the Squad 1 Underground Prison, Gramps was personally going to greet Saito when they bring her out.
Katori, Retsu, Soi Fon, and I were here, waiting for her so I can take her home. She's to be walking freely for 10 years before they attempt to lock her in again. 200 years ago, she threw a fit and nearly slaughtered a good portion of Gramps's men.
Despite that, I'm going to try and get her sentence lifted. I think my poor Saito has suffered enough.
The gate slowly opened as several armored shinigami walked out, holding long poles that were attached to the bindings on a pink-haired woman's arms and legs. She was wearing a mask and I could see her serious but sad eye, her eyepatch was still in place.
I sighed, "Good, they don't have bindings on her neck this time...." I said as I stepped forward
As I did so, Gramps cleared his throat, "Former 6th Division Captain, Furofushi Saito." He said as they approached us, "I, Captain-Commander Yamamoto, welcome you back to the Seretei."
Saito was wearing a simple white kimono and her hands and legs were bound with heavy metal locks. She gave me a serious look, completely ignoring Gramps and what he said.
I looked at the guards, "Release her." I said
They shifted nervously, "W-We need the Captain-Commander to do it himself..." One of them said, "Last time....it didn't end well...."
"Fuck's sake..." I said as I looked at Gramps, "Give me the keys, I'll do it."
"Do as you wish." Gramps said as he handed me two different keys, "You lot, step away from her."
I walked over to Saito as she stood there calmly, "Hey..." I said softly as I crouched down and undid her bindings on her legs, "How have you been?"
I then straightened up and undid the ones on her hands, watching as she rubbed her wrists. She didn't say anything, merely looked at me with a serious look.
"Say something." I said as I undid the binding on her mask, "You're worrying me."
I took her mask off, revealing her pale and beautiful face. It was odd, not seeing her trademark smirk. She was serious, giving me a frown.
"You bastard...." She said with a dry throat, "You married another one?"
I looked back at Soi Fon who merely looked away.
"This is my queue to leave." Gramps said as he turned around, "I wish you good fortune, Grandson."
I looked back at Saito, "Listen..." I said, "You know-"
I was cut off by her punching me in the stomach, buckling me straight onto my knees.
"You betrayed me!!" She exclaimed, "You told me I was to be your third!!! How dare you, Genryujin!!"
"S-Stand down!" the guards yelled
"It's okay." I heard Retsu say, "Do not fear, you can leave us be."
"Oww...." I said as I rubbed my stomach
"Saito-san!" Katori exclaimed as she walked over to me, "Calm down, we can explain."
"Katori, you know the promise he made me!" She exclaimed with her voice shaking, "H-How.....can he do this....after everything I went through...."
I looked up at her, her eye was filled with tears and her lips curled. She was trying not to cry.
"Saito..." I said as I stood up and looked at her, "I'm sorry....."
"200 years.....Gen.....I've sat in that chair...." She said softly, "And you couldn't wait for me.....?"
I placed my hands on her shoulder, "Saito....." I said as I pulled her in for an embrace, "I'm sorry, a lot can happen in 200 years....."
"I've missed you terribly, Gen....." She sobbed into my chest, "Why do you do this always?"
I placed my hand on her head, gently stroking her hair, "I visited you many times per year, Saito." I said, "Don't pretend that I forgot about you. This time, my beautiful psycho.....this time it's for real....."
"W-What?" She said as she looked at me
I smiled, "I'm keeping you out..." I said, "I mean it."
"Don't make promises you can't keep." She told me
I put my hand on her chin, "These past 200 years must've softened you up, dear." I said with a smirk, "Where's the spunk you always have?"
She frowned, "I....a lot happened in there...." She said softly
I reached for her hand and held hit, "Come, lets go home." I said, "Meet my third wife, Soi Fon...."
I pulled her alongside as I walked over to Soi Fon and Retsu, Katori followed along.
Soi Fon bowed slightly, "I'm honored to be in the presence of a Founding Gotei Captain." She said, "I am the Captain of the 2nd Division, Soi Fon."
"2nd Division? That's Chika's squad...You're not a Shihoin...." Saito said, "What happened to his successor?"
Soi Fon frowned, "She...uhm..." She said
"Long story." I said, "I'll tell you all about it over dinner, eh? Let's go."
She nodded, "Okay..." She said
Retsu smiled, "Glad to have you back, Saito-san."
"That's right~" Katori said
Saito bowed slightly, "T-Thank you for having me again..." She said shakily,
"I apologize for my past behavior..."
