Chapter 1Awakening

Cold water splashed on Tyler. He instantly woke up from the shock. As he tried to move he noticed he was chained to the ground. His arms were bounded behind him and chained to the ground. He was sitting on the ground on his knees. Thousands of thoughts raced through his mind as he tried to figure out where he was. He remembered playing Blazing Star late last night and then closing the game and going to bed. Yet the more he though about it the more his mind was covered in a fog.

He started to second guess if he turned off the game or not. Maybe he was still playing? But he didn't remember how he could have gotten in such a situation. He looked around the room and then at the assailants that had doused him in water. He was in a single metal room with jail cells on 3 walls and a reinforced metal door. On either side of the reinforced metal door were two muscular men in military navy uniforms. The uniform was solid black with gold and red trimmings.

Standing in front of him was a beautiful woman. She had dazzling emerald eyes and long brown hair. She had a very athletic figure. For some reason she looked very familiar. He couldn't quiet place his finger on where he had seen her before. She wore a similar uniform to the two guards behind her, but hers looked more important. She had more badges on her uniform while the other two had nothing.

"Now that you've woken up and gathered your barring's. Who the hell are you" the woman demanded Tyler to speak. She stood with her arms crossed with a fierce look on her face. Tyler blinked his eyes in confusion. He didn't know how to respond.

"Um... Where exactly am I" Tyler asked. "I don't remember how I got here. Last thing I remember was being on Planet Rik'Dus fighting the Overswarm."

The woman looked at Tyler like a parent would when they caught their child lying. Faster than Tyler could realize the woman had reached out and grabbed him by his collar. She raised him into the air with such force she broke the chains that chained him to the ground. Tyler dangled there in the air as the woman yelled at him.

"What the hell are you talking about?! What is the Overswarm and what is Planet Rik'Dus?! WHO ARE YOU?!"

Tyler's eyes opened widely as the woman held him and yelled. Even if the game was a VR game what he was feeling now the game couldn't allow. He could feel spit and a hot breath hit his face as the woman yelled at him. He began to realize that he wasn't playing a game, but he was in the game! Tyler started to squirm trying to get out of his grip.

"Where are we? What year is it?" He yelled in a desperate panic. His drastic mood shift didn't go unnoticed by the woman. She dropped him hard to the ground. She looked down at him trying to puzzle together who he was and how he arrived.

"You are on the Battleship York. The year is 4221. I am NCO Keda Odurna. Now tell me again. Who are you and how did you get here?!" She demanded.

His eyes almost fell out of his head. More thoughts rushed through his mind. 'No no no no! This doesn't make any sense! When the game released it was the year 4224. And the last time I played the year was 4362! Not only that but Battleship York was a bit of lore for the players stating the events that happened leading up to the story of the game. The Battleship York was in an exploration mission and ran into the Zandari. There they were destroyed but the Federation had no idea. They just thought that the Battleship York was just lost in space.'

As soon as Tyler came to his conclusion a ding sound chimed and screen appeared in front of his eyes.

[Quest]

[Save the Battleship York!]

[Description: The Battleship York is on a recognisance mission exploring new space for the Federation to expand. What they don't know is that they are small fish in a big pond. Make sure the Battleship York survives its planned ambush]

[Quest Rank: B]

[Rewards: 1 Class Ticket and Starting Equipment. Additional rewards on quest grading]

[Failure Condition: Battleship York lost and/or Players Death]

This confirmed his suspicion! He had truly been pulled into the game Blazing Stars! Yet he was in the game before it was released to the players. More thoughts ran through his head about if other players were in the same situation or if they'd even show up at all. He pushed those thoughts in the back of his mind. He had to figure out how to save the Battleship York.

As he laid on the floor unable to truly believe he was in the game his mind was flooded with information. When he was a player he was in the Lore Hunters Guild. Players who focused on the lore of the game and the mysteries of the universe. His guild was powerful as they found many relics of the Progenitors! The race of species that had crafted the universe and life within it. This made the guild a major powerhouse in the PvP and Pro league scenes.

Thanks to his past of being one of the main members of the guild he remembered what had happed with the Battleship York! The ship wasn't destroyed, but captured and dismantled. The Zandari, a race of green and blue skinned humanoids, had discovered the Federation first. They had sent hundreds of spies to disguise themselves as humans to influence the Federation and weaken it before the Zandari Armada could enslave them.

Tyler knew one of the spies was on the ship right now! Their job was to make sure the ship went to the right star system. From there the ship would be surrounded by a small Zandari fleet. Once the ship was surrounded the spy would act! They would slowly shutdown the ship allowing it to be quickly captured without resistance.

Tyler looked towards NCO Keda with wide eyes. He realized where he had seen her before! She was a mind controlled soldier! When the Battleship York was capture any Super was brain washed and used as cannon fodder. When the players started to help the Federation fight the Zandari back she was known as the Lightning Queen! She was an Esper with a Rank A rating for her power. She wasn't at the same strength as before now, but he knew how powerful she could become!

Tyler picked himself up standing straight. He did his best to sound as confident while he spoke.

"My name is Tyler Rivin. I am a Seer who is here to help the Battleship York from an ambush! I need to speak with Admiral Halto. Tell him this. Eyes in the Dark see the True Light." He then sat down closing his eyes. Tyler knew Seer's were extremely rare in the universe and the Federation only had 1 Seer in all it's history. They helped the Federation expand and colonize new planets with very little issue. He tried using this title to influence NCO Keda.

As soon as she heard that Tyler call himself a Seer she was very skeptical. There was no other Seer in the Federation and if there was the government would have taken them and given them tests to prove it. Once they were prove the Federation would celebrate with a festival throughout all 4 star systems. She thought differently when she heard the message for Admiral Halto. How the prisoner knew the name.

The mission they were on was a secret one. The Federation is in turmoil and close to a rebellion. The main government was planning to find a new star system to switch focus of revolt to colonization. At least for the next 100 years. Not only that, but no one, besides High Command, knew that it was General Halto that was in charge of this mission.

NCO Keda nodded her head and told the two soldiers to watch the prisoner while she informed Admiral Halto of the situation. They saluted her as she left. The door opened by sliding upwards and slammed shut as she left the room. She stood in a lifeless grey steel hallway. It was build to instill fear into the prisoners on the ship.

NCO Keda touched her wrist as a 3D holographic data pad floated in the air. She touched a few buttons with the screen changing to an image of an old man. He had dark skin, white hair and a well trimmed white beard. He wore an Admirals uniform with a matching hat.

"NCO Keda. What have you found regarding our prisoner?"

"Sir!" She saluted. "The prisoner has yet to state how or why he is on the ship, but has made a claim. He states he is a Seer and has asked I pass along a message to you."

Hearing this Admiral Halto raised an eyebrow. He was intrigued by this prisoners proclamation. "And? What did he wish to inform me of?"

NCO Keda coughed. "Well Sir he wishes to say, Eyes in the Dark see the True Light."

Admiral Halto's eyes widened before he quickly calmed himself back to his stone expression. He rubbed his chin and closed his eyes as he began to ponder what was said. The two remained on the call for a few minutes in silence. Admiral Halto let out a deep breath before he spoke.

"It seems this prisoner is a Seer. Please bring him to my personal office. I wish to speak with him in private."

"Sir yes Sir!"

The call ended with NCO going to retrieve the prisoner. Admiral Halto sat in an officers chain in the middle of the command deck of the ship. In front of him were 4 other military officers looking over their controls making sure the ship maintaining hyper space jump to their coordinates. The command deck was surrounded by reinforced glass allowing everyone to see space around them. Since they were in Hyper Space they could see a swirl of colors around them as they traveled through a higher dimension. They would arrive in a new star system in only 5 hours. He slowly rose from his chair and turned around to leave.

"Maintain course" he said with a wave of his hand. " IO Ramirez" he spoke to a Hispanic looking male with a beard and slick back black hair. His uniform looked like everyone else's in the room besides the large hand holding a planet pin on his left breast pocket. "If anything happens please notify me of everything."

"Yes Sir" he spoke with a bow and a hand over his heart. "I will make sure the ship is ready for arrival." Admiral Halto left the command deck

OLD-WORLD EXTRA

{Check out my new novel, Misunderstood Villain: Heroines Mourn My Death} 'Born In Ruins' was a forgettable read. That was the only way Emir could describe the pages of the novel he had found himself reincarnated into. The young man barely knew anything, but the snippets he had recalled only caused him unending sorrow... As what awaited him was only tragedy and an early death. It was a depressing story, one that he had planned to flip on its head—all for his salvation. — In this post-apocalyptic world, monsters fought humans and cyborgs in a battle for survival on a scale greater than ever before. A world where innocence and death were a luxury, where the line between heroes and villains was razor-thin. Within its expanse, 'Ancient Clans,' 'Galactic Federations,' 'Factions', and 'Corporations' presided over colossal 'Ruins' that dwarfed the concept of life itself. Survivors of the 'Third World War' continuously dove into the 'Old World,' 'Hunting' for 'Relics' in any ruin that they could find on Earth, desperate to reclaim 'Lost' technology, to stand a fighting chance against the inevitable. But it appeared that 'Earthkind' had met their match. …However, Emir would never allow that fate to take its course. — Emir unraveled layers of the tale and realized the truth of the world. He acquainted himself with the rules of this game before it fully consumed him. And now... no longer content with mere survival, he sought to dominate over the very fabric of this unforgiving universe. Emir shall rise from the pawn he once was, seeking to unravel the mysteries that hounded him. The boundaries of 'Aether,' his father’s disappearance, the noose hanging above his family’s head, and of course… his starless destiny, a fate he longed to control. This pursuit would earn him the epithet: "Prince Of The Fallen." ---------------------------------------------- *Tags: Reincarnation ;), Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Magical Realism, Academy (Volume 3), Romance, Apocalypse, {Anti-Hero. Villain.} *Expect this novel to start slowly; it begins ramping up at the halfway point of volume 1. *The Magic System is introduced at the end of volume 1, read my review and Auxiliary chapter for more on that. *Warning: The main characters have emotions like proper humans. So don't expect your usual emo kid as the MC and come complaining later.

Intergalactic conquest with an AI

Rex was just another slave in the corporate machine, a faceless office worker under the shadow of one of the galaxy's powerful megacorps. His life was predictable and dull, an endless cycle of meaningless reports and fluorescent-lit monotony. That was, until that day.... When a new world was discovered on the outskirts of the galaxy, Rex, like countless other low-ranking employees, found himself dragged into a contract clause he’d barely skimmed years ago. The megacorp ordered him and his coworkers to pack their lives into a transport pod and leave for the unexplored planet. Their mission? Establish a colony. Mine resources. Make the company richer. There was no choice, refusing meant ruin. At first, everything seemed manageable. The days were grueling, the nights cold, but progress was steady. The colony was coming to life. Until the excavation team struck something. No one knew what it was at first, a buried hive, a forgotten ecosystem, or something ancient and dangerous. Whatever it was, it unleashed hell. Swarms of enormous, chittering creatures erupted from the ground, their jagged bodies blotting out the sky. The colony fell into chaos. Screams echoed through the air as the bugs tore through everything in their path, walls, machines, and people. Rex barely survived. Bloodied, broken, and pinned beneath the rubble, he should have died there. But in the pitch-black silence of his fading consciousness, a voice spoke to him. Cold. Mechanical. Otherworldly. "Do you wish to live?" When Rex woke, he was no longer the man he’d been. His body was no longer human flesh and bone but something far more alien. His skin shimmered with living metal, his mind infused with the power of Cleo, a mysterious AI from a long-extinct, robotic race known as the Kaelzars. Cleo’s presence pulsed through his thoughts, guiding him and transforming him. He wasn’t just alive. He was reborn. But survival came at a price. Rex was no longer a pawn of the megacorp; he was something more dangerous, something they couldn’t control. As Cleo’s intentions began to reveal themselves, Rex found himself standing on the precipice of war, not just with the bugs but with forces far greater than he could have imagined. This was the beginning of a journey through blood-soaked battlefields and treacherous alliances. Along the way, Rex would encounter allies, brilliant, flawed, and unpredictable, and enemies whose ambitions were as sharp as their blades. These weren’t disposable foes, easily crushed by an overpowered hero. They were cunning, relentless, and human in the most terrifying ways. But then again, in war, who can truly be called a villain?
