We'd grown up together in this very building. Henry's parents used to manage the fifty-unit apartment complex until they passed it on to him and moved to Florida. Pops and I moved in after my mom died when I was five years old. He used to be the maintenance manager and taught Henry everything he knew. When my dad died, I moved to a smaller space in the building on the fifth floor.
I knew I was in love with Henry by the time we hit middle school. But as the years went by, I realized he would never see me as anything other than his buddy. He loved to play the field too much and had declared that monogamy just wasn't his thing.
