Engulfed by the Earth
After hours of battling the storm, the crew finally managed to secure the retaining wall. The threat of collapse had been averted, at least for now. The wall, though temporary, held firm against the onslaught of rain and debris.
The workers, soaked to the bone and caked in mud, stood back and admired their work with weary relief. The wind still howled around them, but they had done it—they'd managed to prevent disaster. Exhaustion hung heavy in the air, but so did a sense of accomplishment.
"Alright, let's pack it up," one of the workers called out, clapping another on the shoulder. "We've done what we can for today."
They started gathering their tools, preparing to head back to the main site. Some muttered about getting a warm drink or dry clothes, eager to leave the treacherous weather behind.
