A few hours later, the car finally stopped.
Abigail faintly heard Sawyer's voice calling her name repeatedly. When she opened her eyes, she was surprised to find him leaning so close to her face, almost as if he were about to kiss her. At least, that was what her mind thought.
Blinking several times, she responded softly, "Hmmm..." feeling her face warm.
"Ah, you finally awake, Abby. Are you fully awake now?" Sawyer said with a light smile, pulling his head away from her. "If you are, we need to get out now. The sun has already set, and I need to turn on the electricity and light the wood stove to warm up the cabin."
Abigail was stunned by his words. She hadn't expected to fall asleep for almost two hours during the trip. Quickly glancing outside, she realized Sawyer was right—it was dark. She couldn't see much around her.
