The next ten years went peacefully....Minor problems and issues were dealt with death threats, fights, blood shed…...And sticking together.
Hayley and Caroline fought twice as hard to avoid the fights coming to their kids.
Hayley had grown to love Zach as much as she loved Hope.
Caroline had grown to love Hope as much as she loved Zach.
They were the two mothers of The Mikaelson Twins. One Protected Their Identity. One Protected Their lives.
Till they couldn't keep the things away from them anymore. Because they were growing up…..and so fast.
It all started up again when they turned seventeen. Caroline wanted to have a big fussy party, and she wanted both Zach and Hope to put their ideas in it. Both Zach and Hope knew that she would take over the whole project in no time.
Zach knocked on the door, it was open,
"Aunt Caroline?"
There was no one inside, and he came inside. On the bed was a photo album, Zach was intrigued. He picked it up, and started sweeping through the box.
He stopped on a page, a picture of himself, with two people he didn't know. He didn't remember. He slid the picture out of the plastic. He was going to ask Caroline about it, he saw something written on the back.
"Stefan and Zach Salvatore."
"Salvatore?" He murmured. He was pretty sure this was him, he had seen other pictures of himself.
"Zach Salvatore?"
He ran downstairs, looking for Caroline. He barged into the dining hall, Caroline Hayley and Hope were sitting there.
Caroline was showing her plans for their seventeenth birthday party.
"I was thinking about going big this time." Caroline told Hayley, "Last year was so low key….."
"What do you think, Hope?" Hayley turned to Hope. "What do you want?"
"I think it's great!" Hope looked at the plans Caroline was holding. "Did you show this to Zach?"
She asked.
"No...I thought I asked him to come here."
"Well, I am here." Zach opened the doors, he seemed angry.
He rushed in.
"Who the hell is this?" He threw the photo on the table. "Who the hell is this?"
"How are you talking to Caroline?" Hayley looked at Zach. "What is the matter with you?"
Caroline stood up, she looked at the photo.
"I am talking to Caroline."
He told Hayley rudely.
"That's our mom, Zach…" Hope stood up, "How the hell are you talking to her?"
"Tell me, Caroline!" He was standing inches away from Caroline. "Who is Stefan Salvatore?"
"Zach, sweetie, listen to…." Caroline tried to say.
"Am I a Salvatore?"
Caroline stuttered.
"I AM NOT A MIKAELSON, AM I?" He shouted.
"Behave yourself, Zach!" Hayley told him.
"WHO ARE MY PARENTS?" He ignored Hayley.
Klaus Mikaelson appeared, but he stood at the doorway.
"You compelled me, didn't you?" He asked.
Caroline didn't know what to say. Tears formed in her eyes. She was dreading this day coming.
"ANSWER ME!" He shouted.
"Yes…"
"What did you do, kill my parents?" He mocked, "You felt guilty?"
He laughed mockingly.
"You forcefully made me a part of this family!" He shouted, "This, in the picture...it's my mom, isn't it?"
"Zach, listen to me…."
"So, you can lie to me again!"
"Please…" Caroline couldn't get a word in.
"You know what?"
Zach's eyes pierced into Caroline's, his face gave her a shiver through her spine.
"I am going."
"What?"
"I am leaving…." He spat, "You will never see me again!"
"Zach…"
Caroline tried to stop him, but he didn't turn around once. She couldn't move. She was frozen in her place with shock and despair.
"ZACH!" Her screams echoed in the rooms.
Hope was devastated, she didn't know what was happening.
"I'll get him." Klaus told them.
"No...You stay here." Hayley told him, "I'll find him."
"Do you know where he'll be?" Klaus asked her.
"Well, I did pretend to be his mother for a better part of a decade." Hayley told him, "I think I know where he'll be."
"Dad…?" Hope looked at Klaus. "What is happening?"
"I'll explain, Hope." He was focused on Caroline, who was walked out on by Zach Salvatore. "In a while, okay?"
Hayley walked into the Bayou, the biggest tree in the bayou, in front of the lake was Caroline's favorite spot.
That's where she found Zach.
"Zach?" She came inside the hollow trunk of the tree. Zach was sitting in the corner.
"Oh, is that my real name?" He looked at her.
She ignored it,
"What you did back, with Caroline…...it was wrong."
"Wrong?" He laughed, "Mo…." He was going to say 'Mom'. He stopped, "Hayley...she stole my identity from me! She stole my memories….She has kept me away from my parents all this time!"
He threw the rock he was holding.
"And all of it was for you." Hayley sat in front of him. "All of it."
"How?" Zach shook his head.
Hayley stood up, and went out of the hollow trunk,
"How?" Zach repeated, coming after her. "How was it for me?"
"Caroline hadn't planned on leaving her home town for ever." Hayley looked at the lake, "She hasn't visited her house, her friends, her town." She turned to face him. "Her mother's grave, in almost eleven years."
Zach looked down.
"She brought you here, when your parents couldn't protect you from the enemies they made."
"Enemies?" Zach was confused.
"Your mother, Katerina Petrova, was a five hundred year old vampire, who had made enemies left and right...…."
"A vampire?" Zach looked at her.
"She turned into a human." Hayley continued. "In fact, she was the one who killed Caroline…..and she transitioned into a vampire."
"WHAT?" He jumped.
"Your father was a good man, a ripper vampire….But still, he had a good conscience."
Zach felt discomfortable.
"Stefan Salvatore was Caroline's best friend."
"My father?" Zach looked at her, "The guy in the picture?"
"Stefan entrusted Caroline with your life….when he knew his life was in danger."
She shook her head.
