Gustav’s Two Faces
At the sight of that smile, at the sound of that answer, a shudder ran through David. His heart hit harder. Was Meiden serious?
David looked into his bright green eyes, in which a challenge to him shone. The bold, angry eyes of a man who could afford a lot. A man who, at the disco, hit another man without hesitation and probably would have beaten him severely if David hadn't interrupted him. The eyes of a man who might have come into conflict with the law.
A wanted man.
But David also knew his other eyes, sad, tired, lonely. The eyes of a sensitive writer who wrote moving stories about love. Something told him that although Meiden might actually beat someone up in defense of someone else, he wasn't bad enough to be pursued by the police. Now he was the one smiling crookedly while pretending to be the bad guy.
" If you were wanted by the police, then I would see if there is a reward set for helping to find and capture you, Mr. Meiden."
