Liam drove towards Northbridge University, fortunately there were many students and other people around, so he wasn't worried about not getting any business.
Upon driving to the entrance of Northbridge University, bored and waiting for passengers, he noticed several cars with milk tea and other beverage bottles placed on them.
Liam chuckled at this sight. Were these beat-up Audi A6 and BMW 5 series owners trying to imitate rich second-generation heirs by placing bottles on their cars? Would they be scared if he showed up in his Bugatti Veyron?
"Ah, Lynn, hurry up! Look, the car is already here!" Mia, dressed fashionably, pulled Lynn as they walked out of the school gate, running towards Liam's rental car. "We took so long to find such a good location at an affordable price. We need to hurry; what if the landlord changes their mind?!"
"But don't you think it's a bit too good to be true? A location this good should be more expensive, and it's just for rent."
"Alright, alright, let's get in the car. We'll only know once we see it ourselves!" Saying this, Mia opened the car door and pushed Lynn inside. When she saw Liam in the driver's seat, she was stunned. "L-Liam, is that you?"
Liam was also speechless when he saw them. How could it be such a coincidence?
He had only taken two orders in the past couple of days, and both were for these two. It seemed they were fated to meet.
"Where to? Get in the car." Liam smiled wryly.
The two girls sighed about how small the world was, gave him an address, and then focused on Liam's car.
"Liam, where's your sports car? Did you get caught for using a company car for personal use?" Mia joked.
"I just returned it. What are you thinking?" Liam replied casually, thinking about the luxury car at home that he couldn't drive, his heart ached.
"And you? Did you go to the concert yesterday? Was it good?"
"Oh, don't mention it. It's a sad story." Mia sighed dramatically, and even Lynn didn't look too happy. "Yesterday, after the concert ended, Lila announced that she was leaving the February Sky group. We won't be able to see her in concerts anymore. Boohoo—"
Hearing this news, Liam was also surprised. Although he didn't follow entertainment gossip closely, he had heard about Lila.
Lila had become a star in recent years, known for her stunning looks and beautiful voice. She had become one of the four leading female stars in the country and was even popular abroad.
The February Sky group was her management company. Lila's smooth rise in the entertainment industry was not just due to her hard work but also the support from the group.
Now, at the peak of her career, she chose not to renew her contract with the group to make more money, instead opting to leave. Liam couldn't understand this move.
Could it be that she felt ready to go solo?
"Sigh, now all the websites and forums are bashing Lila. Public opinion is overwhelmingly negative." Mia sighed. "We fans can't help her anymore."
The atmosphere in the car was heavy. To lighten the mood, Liam cleared his throat. "Cough, cough, that's to bad. Anyways, I heard you two are looking to rent a place? What's going on?"
After a long silence, seeing that neither of them responded, Liam turned to look at them.
He saw Lynn with her head down, lost in thought, and Mia not looking very happy either.
"What's the situation?" Liam asked, puzzled.
"Mia, you should tell him." Lynn said softly. Mia sighed and spread her hands. "It's a long story. Simply put, Lynn's father wants her to marry someone she doesn't like. They had a big fight, and now she's left home."
Hearing this, Liam was shocked, almost crashing into a tree. Steadying himself, he asked in disbelief, "It's already 2030, and there's still arranged marriage? Are you sure you're not joking?"
Liam felt like he was living in a novel (yeah right), this was too dramatic.
But Mia quickly added, "We're not joking. The guy is a rich second-generation heir with a bad reputation. Somehow, he took a liking to Lynn, and her father agreed to the marriage for money and power."
"You two are unbelievable!" Lynn finally lifted her head.
Through the rearview mirror, Liam saw Lynn's teary eyes. Any girl would be heartbroken in such a situation, especially since Lynn was still a student.
"So you're in a hurry to rent a place for Lynn to live?"
"Yes, her father cut off her financial support when she refused to go back. This was the best place we could find." Mia said helplessly.
Liam nodded. He knew the address they mentioned; it was a very old neighborhood. He had considered renting a place there himself. The location was decent, but the houses were in poor condition, making the rent relatively affordable.
Driving to the place, looking at the rundown neighborhood, Liam suggested, "I'll go with you. You two don't have much experience; you might get scammed and end up counting someone else's money."
Hearing that the place was found online and was for rent, Liam felt it might not be reliable. There were countless stories of people getting scammed while looking for a place to rent, especially two students like Mia and Lynn. They wouldn't be able to handle it.
"Alright, it's great to have you help us." Mia smiled and led the way up the stairs.
Lynn, feeling much more relieved with Liam's help, followed closely behind.
