Harem System In Limbo (Ch.2)
Cold... that was all Chantria could feel, freezing, bone chilling cold as though she was submerged in ice.
Chantria shivered, all around her was encased in complete and absolute darkness, she tried to force her eyes open but her lids were too heavy,
Her eyes remained firmly shut and would not budge even in the slightest.
Chantria wondered how deep into sleep she had fallen that she was in such a state, was this what they called limbo?
A void between consciousness and unconsciousness where all that existed were one's thoughts and suffocating darkness.
Chantria sighed within her heart, perhaps she had really studied too much that her body had completely shut down and would not awaken till she had gotten her fair share of rest.
Mira had warned her of this once, that at the rate she was going, she would collapse sooner or later due to overexertion but as usual, Chantria ignored sound advice...so much for being the medical student.
Chantria only hoped she would not awaken too late, she had an important test at 8am and missing the test would be troublesome.
In whichever case, since it had already come to this, Chantria felt she would not burden herself with thoughts, it was best to get as much rest as possible.
However just as Chantria thought she could get a good rest out here in limbo, the universe of course had other plans.
In the darkness of Chantria's mind, a strange glowing orb materialized, blinking in and out of view.
'What could that be?' Chantria wondered in astonishment as the glowing orb flickered on and off for a short while longer in the darkness of Chantria's mind.
Chantria waited and waited for it to disappear but it just wouldn't.
Chantria heaved an exasperated sigh, the blinking orb was beginning to grate on her nerves, if she could not open her eyes and get herself to wake up,
At least she deserved some peace and quiet in her own mind, so just where did this blinking orb come from to irritate her this way?!
Her eyes were already closed and this mind of hers was her personal space, it was not like her mind had eyes that she could close or something,
Chantria felt it was impossible to ignore this strange phenomena so she tried reaching out to the blinking orb with her mind,
Chantria was hoping whatever it was, she could perhaps ask it nicely to be on it's way and leave her to her unconsciousness,
This was going to be her first and only time in limbo ever, Chantria did not plan on letting herself end up in such a state again,
Yet, she surely would not let this strange phenomena ruin the experience for her.
As Chantria reached out to it, the strange glowing orb immediately came to a standstill, as though it had been waiting for Chantria to make the first move all the while,
All of a sudden, the glowing orb elongated to a cylindrical shape and then rolled itself out like a scroll or a more accurately, a screen.
On the screen, written in glowing bold letters was the sentence 'THE HAREM SYSTEM: A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO MULTIPLE LOVERS.'
The sentence glowed brightly and it was all Chantria could see in her mind.
'What sort of joke is this?' Chantria wondered in astonishment,
Chantria did not have enough time to ponder over it because the very next moment, the first sentence on the screen vanished to be replaced by a new sentence.
Five sentences were outlined one after the other and the sentences read...
FIRST MISSION: WAKE UP
MISSION LEVEL: EASY
REWARD: BASIC INTRODUCTION
HIDDEN MISSION: AVAILABLE
REWARD FOR HIDDEN MISSION: N/A
Chantria stared at the glaring words, her thoughts drawing up a blank as she simply had no way to comprehend this.
The closest explanation Chantria could come up with was the fact that this was some sort of mission system like they had in video games or in some novels she had read when she was much younger.
It took Chantria only a moment to conclude that this must have all been some strange dream and she would wake up from it in a moment or two.
However what happened in a moment or two was far different from what Chantria would have ever expected...
