Bath Of Death

[MATURED CONTENTS] 'If this polluted WORLD yields to be clean and justifiable, I'll become the WORLD itself and make them bow to I, Harriet' ~~~ Harriet Hawthorn. ------ "Even in death, you are to become my bride. If you disappear, I'll become darkness for you and bring you back. This is my vow - to you, my love" He had proclaimed sincerely as he watched her pale smile. She was yet to speak when a twist from her stomach attacked her. She held his passionate eyes, and there it was, her bitter smile - one that spoke of pain. She had wanted to speak, and the moment that happened, a puddle of blood escaped her lips. "I love you" And there she fell. ---- A land that grooms skeletons in the face of death. Nobility and prejudice ruling over fairness. A land where aristocracy baths on the weakness of the upper class. The creatures bathed in the cloth of debauchery. Being towed from a baker's daughter to the stepchild of a noble Lord, then to a bandit. Harriet had fairly understood the world of her land. A place that stepped on the loyalty of the feeble and chewed their spirits. Harriet knew she could not stop the discrimination. The only form to live was to play mind games and pretend to be blind. In between her journey, she enters the House of Oregano. A house bathed with sinful beasts. She had intended to just win their trust, trample upon it and leave herself in jeopardy. Sadly for her, on the first day into the house, she had unknowingly bathed herself with trouble when not just one, or two, but three foolproof red eyes erred to liberate her from their bondage. Harriet must build herself and get revenge for all of the deaths caused by these so-called creatures. But when a certain bridge is preventing her from that? She must face the consequences of her actions. ---- Please add to your libraries. One chapter per day. NOTE: THE COVER ISN'T MINE. CREDIT TO THE CREATOR.

Harriet felt her heart spurt into a billion pieces. Her expression blurred rampantly. She staggered behind, and wheezed, afraid to be seen. She felt her entire world was wipeout by their betrayer. They told a fallacy to her face, saying her father had travelled when in fact he...

Her father...her father was slain? He was dead?

How could they? How could they simply hurt her? They locked her, constraining her freedom. They treated her unfairly. How could one be so gruesome? How could they maim her petite heart and rupture it into meaningless? How could her mother marry her father's killer and breathe air in the same place as him?

Why?

Why was her father dead? He was her greatest strength. He was her star, and he had become one.

"NO. HE IS NOT DEAD. NO" A broken scream fled her lips, and her eyes were obscured. She whispered the words to herself. As she met eyes with her mother's horrified ones, the little girl slipped her lips opened to speak but her words ceased to be spoken. It was equal to losing her voice.

"Baby, Harriet. How come you are here? D-Did you hear anything?" Marinette was beyond horrified if her daughter were to have listened to their conversation.

"Mama, you were the most beautiful memory I kept locked inside my heart. Every time I heard your voice, it made me feel like heaven. I could feel the intensity of love. My soul is not strong, Mama. How could you do this?" Her body trembled when speaking. She batted her eye to the man behind her mother, and her chest stung. They jagged and ruptured her ribcage, warring to be shattered. "It was my birthday today, have you forgotten? You left me alone in that dark room. Harriet missed mother" The pain stung at first, but now it made her numb. The sharpness of the pain was unmistakable and distinctive, sending shockwaves through her body. Even though, this wasn't the exact words implementing her story, she wished not to be kept in the dark anymore.

Marinette closed her eyes, sighing in relief. She didn't hear them. Oh Lord, thank you. She beheld her thanks to God.

"Baby, Mama was coming to you. I wouldn't forget your birthday for anything" Harriet peeled the nails in her fingers off bit by bit, watching the relief washing over her mother's face. Her mother had one of the prettiest and commendable souls, was she delusional?

"Mm," She mused. "I know, I should go back. I apologize for intruding" The little girl curtsied, inflicting a larger pain on the burning part. Marinette wanted to stop her, but Lord Frank halted her on the spot.

"Don't" his one word was direct, revealing his cruel intentions, so the woman could only watch her daughter leave. She hadn't even greeted her a happy birthday yet, and the hours would soon go by, ending the day.

Endure more, my child. We will be free soon.

In the meantime, Harriet ran out of the building. She briskly put her feet on the ground, letting herself be bathed in the rain and looked ahead. The reflection of the moon ignited on her frail body, standing fragilely and exposed. The life of the wealthy was toxic.

Harriet couldn't think straight, and more was the discovery about her father. She stayed drenched and her eyes smothered to the huge mansion. Her eyes were now void of color as she had been locked out of the light. She desperately clung to the rim of her dress at the side, feeling extremely annoyed. Her hopes...they had been crushed by her very own mother.

I waited, Mother. I waited for you to come clean. To apologize.

The rain washed away the pain in her heart as she sighed. Where was her life heading? She had just turned twelve and still needed the direction of her parents, but of what use was that? They all referred to her as weak. The world was the villain.

"Ay, take the machines and tuck them into the wagons. We take off soon."

"Yes, Sir"

A squadron of warriors was lined up shoulder to shoulder in three tight echelons, as they carried swords in their hands, and have been encased with armor.

The stray route was barren as every citizen had left for home to be spared by the monstrosity of the storm. But these warriors were out there jeopardizing their lives as they dragged weapons into three wagons, and retired on the street.

"We have to hurry our asses; the General awaits our return. We must be glorious over Aysgarth and conquer their empire." The sergeant decreed.

"We shall rule over Aysgarth" The troops cried back in response.

Walking aimlessly, Harriet caught sight of the golden armor up ahead. Her lips were chapped and her face pale. She dragged her feet quicker than her brain when she saw the wagons were departing. She had made an effort to call out for help, but her tiredness had her tongue numb. While one wagon progressed, the second followed and disappeared. The last wagon was still instilling spears, and the girl was too fatigued to proceed.

Her father once told her "If you can still breathe, you are fine. Be brave against the world and modify their power."

Harriet hissed painfully as she aggressively propelled her feet onward and bottled her resilience to her swift move. She ran faster than she could imagine. The last wagon was nearly taking off, while the wheels rumbled down the cobblestones. Due to the lamppost stationed at each crossroad of the street, she could notice a small opening where she could hide her body in the wagon. All that was in it, were weapons as every knight had regaled the first two wagons.

As her chance, Harriet ran faster to catch up with the wagon. Her feet hurt terribly because she wore no shoes. To worsen the condition, the rain was smacking her face, and the more she coerced herself to go on. She wanted to give up but remembered her goal. To leave this toxic land, forever.

Harriet put her hand forward to grab the shaft, stitched to the vehicle. She ran a bit snappy until her hand was finally able to grab the rod, which assisted her up into the dark wagon, and the cap, being shut tightly.
