Dezhong walked further into the swamp, past the bioluminescent murky waters, through the thick mud puddles, and finally onto solid ground. As he moved, he noticed how the swampy area suddenly transitioned into a green, open field with numerous large holes on the ground, big enough to hide three cars.
The trees in the area were barren, devoid of foliage. The air was colder, turning his chocolate brown skin into an orange-red color. The most unsettling thing about it was the sounds of various beasts communicating with each other. Some sounded like crying, dying animals, while others resembled humans speaking backwards with terrifying deep voices (try imagining that next time you're outside in the dark). Another unsettling sight were the humanoid-shaped beasts he observed feeding together from a distance.
