But as the power grew, so did the darkness. From the shadows at the edges of the chamber, tendrils of inky blackness began to creep forward, drawn by the energy of the seal. The air grew colder, the light flickering as the darkness attempted to consume it.
"We have to hold it back!" Wei Lin shouted, her voice strained as she focused on maintaining the flow of energy.
Darian stepped forward, his sword flashing as he struck at the encroaching darkness. "We'll keep it at bay—just keep going!"
