Author's Abyss

Information: I have re-uploaded the novel in order to participate in the WSA webnovel contest. Sinopsis: Alex, a young 20-year-old writer, has lived a life marked by tragedy. The tragic loss of his parents left him an orphan, plunging him into an endless abyss of pain and loneliness. In the orphanage, he suffered physical and emotional abuse from his peers, forging an emotional shell to survive. In an unforgiving world, writing became his refuge. In his stories, he created an evolved fantasy universe, tinged with magic, supernatural powers and unfathomable mysteries. One night, as he battled insomnia and reviewed his work, a devastating critique questioned his ability as a writer. Each discouraging word stabbed like a dagger, and a chilling whisper seemed to speak his name. In a fleeting blink, his consciousness reeled and he found himself in an unfamiliar place, trapped in a foreign body. In this new world, where magic is tangible and supernatural powers are real, Alex faces surprise and confusion as he realises he has transmigrated into his own novel. Now, he lives among the very words he once created, but this time as part of a story beyond his control. As he navigates this alien world, Alex discovers that the challenges and conflicts he faces reflect his own inner demons. Will he be able to save this world from a tragic fate, or will he sink further into his emotional abyss?

Black flower

"It can't be true, I've transmigrated to a fantasy world!" Realizing that, I was totally shocked by what had happened to me. After a while I managed to calm my heartbeat and started to think about what I should do.

But before that, I needed to put myself in a situation. For that, I needed to know if I had transmigrated into someone's body or just my body had appeared here. So I rushed to the bathroom with great interest and what I saw pleasantly surprised me. I was in a body that was not my own, but strangely familiar.

Looking in the mirror, I was confronted with a slightly enhanced reflection: a similar, attractive version of myself, but younger (around 16 years old), with gray eyes that seemed to absorb the light, adorned with a tinge of black in their depths.

Surprise was mixed with confusion, but deep down it contained an emotional emptiness. Likewise, I didn't waste much time looking at my face because I wanted to know if this body had any family or friends. Besides, I needed to find out what his name was and how he behaved to avoid suspicion from possible relatives, friends or acquaintances. So I started looking around the house in search of some personal documentation or something similar that would give me some kind of information.

Several minutes later...

After investigating the whole house, I found only four interesting objects: a wallet with some money and documentation, a cell phone, a laptop and finally, a small notebook with a pen. I decided to start by looking at the ID. It showed the same face I saw in the mirror (even after seeing the face of my new body I felt strange), along with the age, first and last name: Ryland Wolfe, 16 years old. ¡Oh, and his parents Daniel Wolfe and Catherine Wolfe! So Ryland Wolfe, that's a good name.

After getting the basics down, I decided I should check the laptop. Unfortunately, it has a password and I don't know it, plus, it's not written down anywhere. So, I'll look at the cell phone and this time I was lucky because it didn't have a password. But there are only basic apps and some totally unknown landscape pictures in the gallery. Also, it has no internet connection.

God, how can you not have an internet connection in a world like this? Seeing that I couldn't get any more information, I decided to investigate this new world and understand its rules in the classic way, by going to a library.

But before I left, I had a problem. A fireball had passed by the door at an incredible speed. I was hesitating whether I should go out or not, but after a few minutes I decided that I could not discover anything if I did not leave the building. So, fearful of being attacked, I decided to take a chance and peek out a little at a time. Seeing that there was no ball, I started to go down the stairs little by little, until I reached the door of the building.

Upon opening the door to the building, I was greeted by an amazing sight: a world similar to Earth, but considerably advanced thanks to magic, mana and an amalgam of amazing artifacts. After marveling at what this world looked like, I decided it was time to get going.

But there was a problem: I didn't know where a library was in this bustling city. So, with considerable difficulty (due to social isolation), I asked for directions as to where the library was located.

Fortunately, I was told that the library was 5 km from the building. So, after walking around for a while and marveling at what the buildings, houses, parks and more looked like, I found an imposing library that stood out considerably over this large city. Books floated in the air, and the sheer size of the place took my breath away. Not being adept at social interaction, I approached a woman and, with my characteristic bluntness, asked her about the history section.

After a few minutes of searching, I found an intriguing book: "The Great Story of Etheris". When I read the title, I was a little surprised because it was the same name I had given to the planet of my novel. I laughed, because it could very well be a coincidence. But as I immersed myself in its pages, I denied aloud without realizing it, "No, no, no, no, impossible, it can't be true." Hearing my voice, the man three seats away asked me if I was okay. I simply replied that I was, but it really wasn't true, I was in total shock and disbelief.

That story that was in the book matched what I had been writing for months and even aligned with the unspecified fragments of my novel. My relationship with that work had changed drastically: what once gave me hope had become an emotional ballast that worsened my inner emptiness.

After pondering for a long time, I decided that the right thing to do would be to take the book with me to fully situate myself and find out where I was in the story. But for that I needed to have a customer card, so in a moment I did. I had 14 days to return the book.

Understanding the situation, I left the library and headed back to that unknown house. On the way, I saw merchants offering armor, weapons and artifacts, but without money, it was useless. But I decided that later I could buy something or try to get some money on the Black Market.

Back at the house, I reached for the notebook to start jotting down events, the current situation and what arc I was in. But in the middle of my notes, an excruciating blinding pain enveloped my left forearm, I had a vision of a black nymph (a flower) emerging in real time. The pain was sharp, wrenching. I gradually lost consciousness, but before I lost it, I saw the flower disappear, leaving behind a single black petal.

Tomorrow 2 caps!

Enjoy reading :)
