Jardan stared at the ground in shock. He couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed. Yes, he lived in a world that to most would be unbelievable, but what had occurred was even out there for him. She had simply vanished.

“Will she be okay?” he whispered.

He heard her mother behind him, and he waited for the answer. Jardan needed to hear it himself, but he kept his eyes on the ground before him in case she suddenly appeared.

Stephen answered instead, “She should be if she really was taken to Synthian. I just never imagined it was real.” His wide eyes scanned the area where Callie had stood just moments before.

Remedio shook his head as he circled the spot. “Seems Callie is not the only one learning new things about her life.”

Jardan whirled around. “We have to get her back.”

Stephen raised his hand. “So Dianthus can have her? No, she is safer in Synthian.”
