With every lifetime, something great happens, but with every greatness, comes an unbearing difficulty to overcome.
The start of the universe, the creation of life, the stars and planets are all heavily debated. What happens after that? When everything is destroyed and the universe is empty. Is it given life once more? Or is it permanently snuffed out? One thing is for certain, that life cannot exist without some form of evolution. Whether it all comes from one point or evolves from many different starting points. Live also will never exist without death.
As the dinosaurs are around ruling the world an asteroid is sent directly into earth, causing an apocalyptic winter. Killing off the dinosaurs. What's in the asteroid? A life and death gift. Life would go on outside something that has caused so much destruction and death. Mighty empires and civilizations would be born and destroyed before the asteroid was ever to see light again, when the colonies arrived to the Americas, the asteroid would see their first victims in forever. It craves war and bloodshed, with its influence it was able to guide the hands of the revolution to spark. After the war, it went back into hibernation till it was needed again, but the device inside was surprised to be found before its influence caused something else. The United States in the height of World War Two was trying to do everything they could to end the war. Hence why a team of highly talented doctors; led by an expert in her field, Doctor Anders, would be working on something called Project Star. Deep inside of the dark facility they would work constantly to make improvements. They found the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs, and from this they were able to derive one thing. The insides were foreign and alien. The team of scientists would work on making this alien symbiote compatible with humans. After two grueling years, they thought the proper precautions were in place for it to be considered a success. They merged all of the chips from the inside of the asteroid into one. To create a perfect soldier.
The room would be set up by the team of doctors. setting up their operating table and tools all as human skeletons entered the room slowly. The large room had one panel of glass in it, leading to a second smaller room. Inside the room stood a general, laced in medals. Watching as his wounded and shattered men filled the room. dressed in his full military outfit he would be very careful of Anders.
Doctor Anders. A dark haired, short, stocky and incredibly intelligent lady, dressed up in her blue floral work dress, pure white lab coat with carbon black glasses. She would have the great responsibility to implant these chips into each and every candidate. Walking up to the first candidate she would speak. "Sir, relax and take a deep breath, this will all be over in a matter of seconds. Now, lay face down on the table and move as little as possible."
The man, a tall and lengthy person with little muscle on his frame looking closer to a walking skeleton than a man. Wearing nothing but his khaki pants and brown boots. Would cooperate and lay down on the table. Looking at his spine she would have her station prepped. She would make a tiny insertion using a scalpel in the back of his neck where she would implant the singular chip into his neck. This chip would fill the gap from the incision and bond with him. He popped up full of an unexplainable energy, before this he was drowsy and not paying much attention. He would look at her and smile.
"Thank you so much, miss. This is the most energetic I've felt in years, since before the War." He would squeal in joy. The other candidates would all become giddy with joy, waiting anxiously for their turn. His smile now brightened, he was beaming with a energy not seen by anyone.
"Alright, that is great to hear Matt, now if you could please come off the table, we need to do a couple of physical tests. To compare them to your previous self." She took note of his current mood, it was much happier than before. She measured his reaction time. There was a considerable increase of speed, same with his physical speed. Both have increased by almost tenfold. Anders asked him to lift a one ton weight. He bent down and lifted it without breaking a sweat. Anders documented the current status of each of Matt's current abilities. She looked over to him, and asked. "Does everything feel normal?" She tells him to stand still as she checks his vitals.
"Nope Doctor, I feel like the best I have ever been. Send me to take on all the Japanese!" Matt roared as the rest of the men cheered with him. Each one of them dressed the same. No shirts, just laced up in their boots with their pants. Their excitement grew, who knew if a bunch of men saw one become super powerful with the promise to match him they would be excited.
"Good, you look in perfect health. Now please stand to the side in this chair while we continue the operation for everyone else. Any volunteers?" Every man had their hands raised. She pointed to the middle and spoke. "Brodrick, you are next." A similar looking man of the same skinny, tall and lengthy frame. She waved him over and he laid down ready for the change of a lifetime. Anders created the incision and put the next chip into his neck.
It became the end of his lifetime. As it was put into his neck, both Matt and Brodrick screamed in bloody murder and agony, both participants were clawing at their faces, removing their eyes. Erupting into showers of blood fountains that covered everyone in the room with a sticky red ooze. Thicker than blood but just as tasteful. Heavy, and dense the rest of the recruits in the room from the project melted. The only one to not be dissolved was Doctor Anders herself.
As she looked at the spot where Matt and Brodrick were. Nothing remained, not even the chips from the implantation. Which made everyone in the facility panic. Project Star had escaped from their grasp. There is no clue where it could be. Doctor Anders was interrogated heavily and all she could do was defend herself with the data. "Superhuman feats would be the sign of Project Star showing up. We just need to triangulate each time something along those power levels show up."
"So Doctor Anders, you are saying you can track this down?" The General would stand there, dressed in his medals and full gear. Glaring down at the small woman. the scars on his face digging deep. "Did you sell this to the Japanese to get many good men killed?" He was furious, letting his anger get the better of him.
"Yes, it won't be one hundred percent accurate. It's the best chance we have at cornering this disease to study it. Clearly we weren't prepared enough." She would be scribbling as much as possible down on her clipboard, trying to come up with more solutions, finding nothing but questions. "I've been here this entire time general, I never had a chance to sell this project to the Japanese."
"Sure, be glad that your knowledge is the only thing saving you from going to an interment camp. You must fix this project." The general would look away into the mirror inside the room.
She would look up to the general. "Do you think I wanted those men to die?" She would look through her notes, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. "There was no intention on these young men to be hurt from this procedure, I did not plan for any backfires or this to spin out of control." A tear fell onto the corner of her clipboard. All of those men had a chance to be someone. All they are now is much, none of them having a chance to do anything now."
"That is your problem now doctor, not ours. Let those souls of the men that you let die rest on your conscience." The General would walk out of the empty room, no windows for Anders to see the light. Anders would sit there, sulking over what she caused. She would grab her pen and flip the clipboard over, Writing down each name of everyone in the room who died to the massive failure.
The biggest issue for her is that the genome is now loose and out of anyone's control. This threat would only become worse in time, snowballing out of her control, she had no idea how bad it will get. Making an unavoidable problem for her to face down the line. However; there was now an active threat to the world running loose.
