Chapter 4 :Nalar High

As soon as they entered the school, ayo couldn't help but blabbing about what she new about the school. Ini just closed his eyes listening to her, as it was best if he knew a little about the school.

The school is so big that even after entering the buildings were still a little distant. The school has a 1.5 kilometer radius and lots of sections.

There's the teaching halls, the hostels, labs, battleground, etc. This is the best school in the south district of Nigeria. So most students are from wealthy backgrounds.

They arrived at their destination after another minute.

When they got off from the car, they went off to register.

After a an hour of walking back and forth they finally finished the Registration. 

Ayo said she wanted to look for her friends. Ini just noded and walked away.

"Who is that bozo in the mask?"

"Does he think he is a God and we mortals are not worthy to see his face or something? "

" Maybe he's ugly and is to embarrassed to expose his face"

" Who knows? He might just be another weirdo trying to draw attention"

Lots of students gossiped about ini while he passed by but he just ignored them and kept walking forward.

Suddenly, somebody bumped into him from the side. When he turned, his eyes met with a girl trying to pick up her books in frustration. She turned to him and yelled

"It's all your fault" ini just staired at her without replying. Because of this she continues "hey, I believe you aren't deaf, shouldn't you apologize and pick up my books?" Ini just ignored her and kept walking away.

"Argh"she groaned. Her face changed as she seemed to recall something " was he wearing a mask" she asks her self"but why?"

At the school battleground

All the students have been gathered here after the registration for proper introduction. There are exactly 100 students here. 

The headmaster is at the podium about to begin 

"Good morning students, many of you are here with one thing in mind, I must become a mage. Let me ask you do you know the duty of mages, or the downsides of being a mage?" He exhaled and continued

" Every mage has a duty, 'defending the defenseless ' and many mages die while fulfilling this duty. I am not trying to scare you, I just want you to get your minds prepared. The road of cultivation is anything but smooth even with external resources, it's still hard so I'll urge you to cultivate well, do your best and become the best you can be."

Afterwards a loud applause followed. 

He continued " the new students will introduce themselves and perform a brief presentation of their power. This is to make you know your competition and prepare well. Now let's begin "

He returned to the high table. Unknown to the students the high table is filled with lots of people from different clans and organizations. Their purpose is to look out for good talent and rope them in so they can have more stronger mages on their armory.

Teacher a "number 1 " shortly after a boy came up.

" My name is David arez from the arez clan of wind. "After the brief introduction he summoned his power and his aura changed and gray wind began circulating around him till a translucent (semi transparent) tonado could be seen rotating round him

Teacher b "A rank"

[Authors note: magictians are grouped into ranks based on their levels whish are S,A,B,C,D,E parents also have a part to play in this for example if mages with level S and A have a child they can give birth to either S or a very fowerful A close to S. Like wise if mages D and E have a child they can give birth to a D or E close to D and if the parents are on the same level the level can be changed if the mage acquires a magical core far higher than their level.

"My name is Eri Sebastian from the ice mountain sect."

" The ice mountain sect is a S rank sect"

The chartering of students could be heard all over the battleground.

Eri striking his magnificent pose conjures his ice. Cold purple mist began to circulate around him till an his body became solid ice with spikes at specific parts of his body.

" He has mystic ice "

"Isn't he just lucky? He was already born with ice attribute ward"

" It's like winning a lottery[an attribute ward is a special resource that forces in places with high density of a particular element. The higher the core level the more the colour differs from the original. For example the normal colour of ice is blue and Eri has putple. It indicates the middle level them the highest level would be a different colour entirely and all wards have attributes if a person has red ice which is in the highest category it could be hot ice or ice which can pass through defenses or extremely hard ice. Same goes for other elements. And ice is cyan so dark blue is a ward but low layer].

Eri then walked off the stage feeling proud. On the way he saw ayo coming up to him and smiled

He greeted her "morning ayo, how was my performance?" But she just kept walking to the stage and ignored him.

He didn't mind and said to him self "one day you'll be mine "

On the stage

"My name is Ayo inaara from the lightning God clan"

The entire battleground was put in an uproar. This is because the lightning God clan is also a s rank clan and the school is in the clan's territory so she could basically do what she wanted but luckily the lightning God clan is very strict and all of their main descendants must be upright so none of the independent cultivators worried about being bullied.

She then conjured her powers and dark purple stripes of lightning circulated round her. As expected it's although low level, she has a ward. It's significant because wards are super rear and super expensive so being born with it is a big deal.

She then went back to her sit.

A girl cam up to the stage. When ini saw her he was shocked as she was the one who bumped into him.

"My name is Abby ina from the fire phoenix clan".

She conjured her magic power and fire began pulsing from he eyes, hands and hair. Her fire is coloured pink so it's middle layer"

Unlike before the students just looked at her with few murmuring about her and ayo being enemies.

"S rank "

Then after a while

" No 100"

Ini then came up to the stage. Ayo watched closely as she has never seen his powers and new little about him.

He then stated to conjure his powers.
