-Asher Frostblade's point of view.
A blank space was all I could see.
Yet how did it happen?
The sudden change of surroundings left Asher bewildered, not understanding the current situation.
Why was he in a blank space, with nothing?
This place exuded a sense of loneliness and absolute silence.
It was like a completely empty room, as if it had never existed.
However, it was then that Asher wondered one thing.
"It seems to me that... I can't control my body."
Simply put, it was as if someone else had taken control of his body.
Although it was still him, it was another personality at work.
While he was trapped in this blank space, his other personality was using his body outside.
However, Asher never had the opportunity to see what he looked like or what actions he took.
How did this happen?
It was impossible to suddenly have two personalities.
Not much time had passed, but Asher felt that, before he reached this blank space, something else was there.
As if someone had been in this place.
He guessed it was his other personality.
"Simply put, my other self is using my body," Asher thought.
But how was that possible?
Logically, it was impossible for a personality to take control of the body.
Asher was suffering from a different mental exhaustion, much more intense than anyone else's, which allowed his other personality to emerge, leaving him trapped in this blank place.
Asher surveyed his surroundings.
All he saw was an empty room, completely white.
He checked every corner.
After a few seconds, he was able to estimate the size of the space: a total of 10 square meters covered the entire room.
"There must be a way out," he thought as he sat down on the floor.
The first idea was simple: wait until he regained control of his body and get out.
However, how and when would that happen?
He dismissed that idea quickly. It was impossible to predict something like that.
Suddenly...
Tap.
He heard a footstep.
The sound was sharp and echoed throughout the room, leaving him stunned for a moment.
He looked around, but there was nothing unusual or anything that could cause that echo.
Tap.
Again.
He pricked up his ears and tried to locate the source.
It was then that Asher opened his eyes.
His mana suddenly appeared, forming two figures that emerged before him.
Figures he had not spoken to in a long time.
He didn't understand why on earth they didn't answer when he tried to communicate with them.
"How did you...?"
His words stopped. Asher looked at Encrid and Isabella, who were watching him silently.
"Wait a can..."
He had an idea.
"Why didn't they answer earlier?"
There was silence, but soon they spoke.
"This is quite serious," Encrid said.
"What do you mean?" replied Asher, raising an eyebrow, confused by his words.
Encrid, correcting himself, answered more clearly so that Asher understood the situation.
"First, I don't know how, but we lost connection with you."
Asher looked at him, puzzled.
"Let me explain... We were separated from your consciousness suddenly, right when you passed out during the fight with that woman, Oriana."
"Oh..."
Asher then understood why he hadn't heard a single word from Encrid and Isabella during the last assessment.
That explained it, but why did it happen?
Why did they lose connection with them?
"Uh..."
Remembering something, Asher thought for a moment.
It was because he had accessed memories he wasn't supposed to enter.
Although he didn't fully understand why or how he had seen memories of Encrid's past, that had to be the cause of the disconnect.
Something had interfered with his mind, which caused the sudden disconnection.
However, he had no clear explanation.
How did it happen, why did it happen?
What was the reason that his mental exhaustion affected even the connection with Encrid and Isabella, and at the same time led him to see his memories?
Try as he might, he had no clear answer.
It was impossible to draw a logical conclusion from everything that had happened, but there had to be an explanation at some point.
Earnestly, Encrid spoke again.
"You went into my memories, didn't you?"
"..."
As if he knew everything, Asher took a deep breath, feeling a surge of nerves run through him.
"Yes..."
He replied, accepting the fact that he saw his memories.
However, everything had an explanation.
As if his mind was being read, Encrid spoke in a more relaxed tone, as if he didn't really care.
"It seems that it was due to your mental state, also the cause of the connection between the three of us being severed."
"Well, then... What did you see, what memories of me did you suddenly observe?"
Asher swallowed nervously.
This was because he had seen the exact memories of the day Encrid killed one of the seven gods. That day was the end of the war against the gods.
The day they all died, including Encrid.
However, he answered without hesitation.
He wasn't sure what Encrid's reaction would be.
Would he be angry?
Would he be upset?
However, none of that was Asher's fault.
He didn't want to see those memories in the first place.
Those memories came suddenly, without him doing it on purpose.
Encrid had to keep that in mind. So Asher put it in a few words so as not to drag out what he had seen in Encrid's memories.
"I saw when you killed one of the gods."
As if his voice echoed throughout the empty room, Encrid and Isabella's gazes widened, but quickly returned to normal.
"Haa..."
Isabella sighed, as did Encrid.
They both looked at each other and then back at Asher. Their voices echoed as they explained.
"So that's what you saw. Though I was going to tell you all about it in detail anyway, and other important things when you were stronger."
"I don't understand... Why do I need to be stronger to get a blast from your past and everything that happened?"
"..."
Encrid's expression changed to a somber and serious one, as if Asher's question shouldn't have been asked at that moment.
However, Encrid calmed down.
It wasn't as if he could hide it forever anyway.
He opened his mouth and answered Asher's question.
"It's simple..."
His voice paused for a moment, but then he continued.
"Currently, there are mages who can read or see memories, they can sense and observe memories at some distance from anyone. These mages are very prying into other people's memories."
"Also, these mages usually move stealthily. No matter what you do, they can see your memories without you noticing. That's where this comes from. If those magicians see this world's past memories, they'll try to get as much information out of you as possible."
"..."
Asher understood it all now.
It made sense why Encrid would only reveal this world's past to him when he was stronger.
Those mages, called "Mind" type or mental mages, had abilities such as seeing memories without anyone noticing.
They were also very powerful mages.
Finally, Asher understood Encrid's motive.
If you become strong, those mages won't try to enter your mind, see your memories or harm you.
Because if you are strong, no one gets in your way.
Asher, who was listening attentively to the explanations, understood why Encrid didn't want to tell him anything about the past at that moment.
Because if he did, it was possible that important things that Encrid had hidden from everyone would be revealed, and that those mind mages would obtain that information by simply entering his mind.
If all was revealed, it would be used for dangerous purposes.
But now a question arose.
"But I saw your memories of one of the gods."
"About that, don't worry."
"..."
"When you tried to see that god, you felt like your head exploded, didn't you?"
Asher nodded, remembering the unpleasant feeling when he tried to see the body, face and name of the god Encrid killed.
"If a mind mage tries to see that memory, he will feel the same effect you experienced."
"I see, then there's no problem for the moment."
"Of course there is, do you have any idea how to get out of here and back into your body? Your other personality is using your body right now."
Asher knew that.
However, he had no idea how to get out of there.
How to do it, or how to get his other personality back in there so he could have control of his body again.
"The only solution we have now is for your friend, the one with the affinity for light, to transfer her mana into your head. Only then can you get out of here."
"..."
As if those words brought some joy, Asher smiled.
However, there was a problem.
How could Gloriana know about that effect to get him to come back?
"Eliza should be able to give her at least a hint," Isabella replied as she looked at Asher.
"The problem is..." Encrid looked at Isabella, just as Asher watched her.
"How will they do that if your other personality won't let go easily and will attack as soon as it senses they're trying to bring you back?"
It made sense, and Asher knew it, but....
His eyes widened.
If anything happened to Gloriana or the others because of his other personality, he couldn't take it.
"Don't worry."
"..."
"It's impossible for your other personality to attack your friends."
"Why?"
"Because, just like you, your other personality also has the desire to protect your friends from any danger."
How did Encrid know this?
It was as if he had spoken to his other personality before.
"I did."
His thoughts were read, and Asher simply nodded.
Simply put, they had nothing left to do but wait to see if anything happened outside or not....
