Eddard

Stepping away from his desk, Eddard grabbed the envelope, which he had just sealed, with his family crest. He then wrapped his cloak around himself, since the Eyrie got quite cold during winter. As he exited onto the cold corridor, Eddard smiled, he could hear the laughter of a man and baby coming from deeper within the castle. He would recognise that hearty chuckle anywhere. Robert, his best friend, and fellow ward. He was half a mind to join him, but he had business elsewhere and so walked the other direction.

He soon arrived at the maester's chambers, and was about to knock when the door swung open. "And I hope you can find them soon. Robert might need them." Jon Arryn, who was just exiting the room said, nearly walking into Eddard. "Oh, Ned, I'm sorry I nearly bumped into you there." Jon said, patting him on the shoulder. Smiling Eddard grabbed the door, "It's fine." Jon nodded, "You're right there," he then glanced down at the letter, "You miss them don't you?" Eddard nodded, and Jon ruffled his hair, "Don't worry you'll see them in a few months."

Eddard nodded again, before entering the maester's chambers and shutting the door behind him. "And how may I help you young Stark?" Maester Terren asked, setting down his quill. Eddard, stepping forward, presented him the envelope, "I'd like you to send this letter to Winterfell if you could." The maester nodded, and taking the letter placed it on the desk, "Is there anything else I can do for you?" He shook his head and was about to leave when Terren called out to him, "Eddard, could you please tell Robert to come see me, if he has time, I must examine that cut of his."

"Of course, maester." Eddard said before shutting the door behind him. He sighed and looked up and down the corridor, he had nothing to do for the rest of the day except for the short sparring lesson he'd have in the evening but that was still ages away. "Damn it." he swore as he had decided to go join Robert even though he knew it was a terrible idea.

As he neared his friend's room he began to hear the shrieking giggles of a baby. 'God damn it Robert.' he thought to himself as he placed a hand on the door. He then swung it open and immediately received a straw doll to the face.
