I laughed, running my fingers through his thick coal hair. I sighed, pressing my palms against him. "I'll admit, it would feel good, if I were relaxed. The god damn drugs your venom injects into me gives me a high better than, well, anything. It's euphoric. I've never felt so blissful in my life. But it's always at the wrong time, when we're in dire straits. I've never gotten to enjoy it…" Thunder roiled outside and a true downpour began, darkening the room. I grinned, my weariness forgotten, a devilish glint in my eye. "Is it gloomy enough for you now, Sam?"
He glanced out the window and winked. "Decidedly so."
"Good." I smiled, and with sudden force pushed him onto his back. His wings spread out beneath me.
"Ho, worm. What's gotten into you?"
