Chapter 23 - He is Coming

"Do you even know what you are saying, Sasuke?" Shizune asked as she wondered if Sasuke had lost his mind.

Yes, Danzo was a piece of shit, but he would never sell Konoha to any enemy, especially Akatsuki.

"You guys don't have to believe my words but my intelligence is accurate. Danzo sold Konoha and told Pain everything about the village, including your security measures," Sasuke said as he looked away from Shizune in disgust.

"If that is true, then it's the greatest threat to our village since Orochimaru's invasion," Kakashi deduced as Tsunade nodded.

"Indeed, we need to do something about it," Tsunade said as she went into deep thought.

"You guys have no idea about Pain's strength at all. He could wipe a whole Hidden Village without breaking a sweat. Orochimaru is like an insect to him" Sasuke said as he tried to inflict fear on them.

This was a part of Sasuke's plan to make sure that his plan would go smoothly.

"Do you know about Pain's strength? Did Itachi tell you something?" Tsunade asked Sasuke.

"Wait, speaking about Itachi, what happened to him?" Sakura asked as she went closer to Sasuke.

"I killed him and took his eyes for myself," Sasuke said as he showed everyone his Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan.

"Is that Mangekyo Sharingan?" Kakashi asked in surprise as he looked at Sasuke who simply nodded. At that point, Kakashi understood that the student might have surpassed his teacher.

"You killed Itachi?" Naruto's jaw dropped when he heard this. He knew how powerful Itachi was.

If Sasuke had killed Itachi then that means he is stronger than him. Everyone had the same thought especially Naruto, who realized that his rival might have surpassed him by a long shot.

"So what is Pain's strength?" Kakashi asked as everyone patiently waited for Sasuke's answer.

"Pain isn't a single person but a group of 6 people, and each of them has a different ability," Sasuke said as he started to explain some basic things about Pain.

However, the more he said, the more Tsunade's heart arched. She wasn't sure if Jiraya was even alive.

"Do you know any of their ability?" Kakashi asked to which Sasuke nodded.

"I only know about one guy's ability. He can rip your soul out of your body if he touches you. I think he was one of the weakest, but he still killed my spy," Sasuke said as everyone was stunned.

Sucking people's souls out of their bodies is very powerful in itself, and on top of that, the guy with this ability is one of the weakest?

"You are joking right?" Naruto said as he sweated a little. He didn't expect his enemies to be so powerful.

"Do you think that I am joking around?" Sasuke said seriously to which Naruto shook his head.

"Sasuke-kun killed Itachi which means he can defeat Pain, no?" Sakura asked as they all thought of her sentence as idiotic.

Sasuke may be strong but he couldn't be that strong. There is no way that he can fight Pain, who seems to be on a different level than the opponents that they have fought yet.

"I believe that I'm the only one who can fight him on equal grounds," Sasuke said confidently, but no one took his words that seriously.

Sasuke had a habit of overestimating himself since he was young, so they simply thought of him exaggerating his strength.

"Do you know what happened to Jiraya, the toad sage?" Tsunade asked as she couldn't wait any further.

"What do you mean by that?" Naruto asked before Sasuke could answer.

"Lord Jiraya went to spy on the Akatsuki Leader Pain in the Hidden Rain Village". Shizune explained which made Naruto rage.

"WHAT? Why did you let him go alone, Granny?" Naruto started throwing a tantrum which was expected since Jiraya was his father figure.

"Jiraya is a Leaf shinobi and a Sannin, so he wanted to test the waters himself," Tsunade said seriously as she hid her emotions.

"It doesn't matter if he was a Sannin; you shouldn't have let him go by himself," Naruto said angrily.

"Naruto, calm down. You are in front of The Hokage. Don't worry, I'm sure that Lord Jiraya would still be alive. He must have been injured or something" Kakashi said as he tried to calm down Naruto.

"If he actually went after Pain by himself, then he must be already dead by now," Sasuke said as he saw a punch coming towards him.

"Shut up; you don't know anything about Pervy Sage." Naruto's punch was stopped by Sasuke as he saw clear tears in Naruto's eyes.

"Wasn't he a Toad Sage? Ask his toads about it" Sasuke said as Naruto ran outside and decided to summon Gamakichi.

"Come out," Naruto said as he summoned his toad.

"Naruto? Do you know where the toad sage and my Pa is?" The frog asked which broke Naruto's heart.

He was expecting to find answers from Gamakichi, not the other way around.

"Do you know what happened to your Pa and Pervy Sage?" Naruto asked as he held back tears.

"He was summoned by The Toad Sage Jiraya, but he never came back," Gamakichi said as Naruto canceled the summon and sent him back to his home.

After that, he walked away with tears in his eyes and left for home while being extremely depressed.

All of this was seen by the others in the Hokage's room, and a sense of loss filled the room, except for Sasuke.

'So he died alongside his toads, no wonder Naruto didn't learn about it sooner and went to train Sage Mode,' Sasuke thought as he decided to leave the Hokage office too.

He wanted to go check the Uchiha Clan compound to see how things were going there. He wanted to make sure that his property was not stolen by the village.

However, before he left Tsunade to mourn her friend's death, he decided to tell her something.

"I forgot to tell you, but all of the Pain has Rinnegan, and I'm the only one who can stop him," Sasuke said as he grabbed Sakura's waist.

"I'm willing to save the village but I want something in return. Call me if you are interested in saving your village, or It's game over for Konoha tomorrow," Sasuke said as he used Flying Thundergod to teleport back to the village's market.

Kakashi, Shizune, and Tsunade were all completely stunned by the information bomb that Sasuke dropped before leaving.

They were so shocked that they didn't even mutter a word. They couldn't even begin to discuss anything.

Everything was so absurd and quick. First of all, it was Jiraya's potential death that pierced Tsunade's heart.

After that, came the information that Pain possesses The Rinnegan. Eyes of the Six Paths Sage who they thought was a myth.

They couldn't even begin to fathom how they could deal with the upcoming threat.
