Chapter 25

A pair of beautiful orange eyes opens in the cave that was lit up by the fire.

The first time Erebus open his eyes after escaping from the village that seeks to burn him to death and losing consciousness on the way, his gaze land on a girl.

She has a long straight black hair; her back facing him.

The girl as if perceiving his regain of consciousness turn her head and what met his eyes was a pale face and a strikingly clear obsidian eyes that seems to reflect everything.

"You're awake…" The girl smiles a bit and continues "Is there anywhere else that hurts?"

The vines might heal the external trauma but Yuna doubt whether it will also heal internal injuries, nonetheless, it has healed major life threatening wounds and that is already a very good result where she didn't have any medical instrument.

Even if she has one, she didn't necessarily know how to minister treatment. All the first-aid treatment that was taught at school have long been forgotten.

Erebus looks down at himself and notice that he has been wrapped in green gauze like thing.

So he was treated huh…

Someone treat a devil.

"Who are you?" Erebus asked flatly, his voice cranky.

He has an idea of getting rid of this person who might be a potential danger when the knights caught up to him to apprehend him.

He look and his gaze once again get attracted to the clear obsidian eyes and stay silent for a second.

....Forget it, he should be more patient and see what this person is up to, he was treated after all.

Once the knights came and have a clear look on how the girl with obsidian eyes look at him with fear and disgust and no longer a clear gaze like now, then he will have the final conviction to abandon the world.

She can be a tool to leverage his despair and strengthen the darkness in his heart.

Killing her now doesn't seem much of use. He has to make use of every opportunity he get.

"My name is Yuna, who are you?" Yuna asked back naturally, not knowing that the person she take care of have the thought of taking her life or even make used of her.

Although still maintaining vigilance, Yuna does not know the extent on maintaining her vigilance considering that she has always been a normal person who live for 20 plus years in a deceitfully safe society.

Let's ignore the dark side of society for now.

Erebus has an unnatural expression hearing the question.

"Are you not a person of this country?" if not, how can she not know him? Even children know who he was. After all, those people from Light God temple make sure to spread his 'infamy' around the country.

No, if one thinks about it, it was exactly because she didn't know him that she treats him, maybe..... he is uncertain.

If it is, it's good that way too, the same kindness to suddenly disappear as if it never exist just because he has darkness ability can amplify the dark attribute. Despair is part of darkness.

"I guess so….?" Yuna replied.

Erebus took in her puzzled expression and asked, initiating a hypocritical conversation "How did you end up here?"

She has been chatting with a devil, imagine the expression she will have when she realised it. Heh.

He remembers his friend to whom he believe whole-heartedly, his 'good freiend' said that he will escape the country and the pursuit of the temple with him but he was the one who sold him out in the end.

It was because of him....No, in fact, it was his fault, he was too naive back then. If he did not trust him, then he won't end up being apprehended and tortured under the 'Purifying' Light.

The memory and pain is a constant reminder to not trust anyone.

"To see you" Yuna answered honestly yet again. It's the truth and she didn't feel the necessity to cover it up. She wish it was not the case though, sigh.....

"To see me?" Erebus eyes narrowed and became cold, his vigilance raises to the highest.

He was about to quickly manoeuvre his dark ability and attack the girl when the sound outside the cave disturb his movement.

"The spawn of darkness is inside the cave! Surround it!"

"Don't let him escape this time!"

Yuna startled stood up and run out of the cave prompting such that Erebus could not have the desired chance to attack her.

Erebus also hurriedly propelled himself up and follows along at the running figure.

Damn it! His vigilance weakened with his severe injuries. She must have informed the temple of his whereabouts.

Why treat him when she is in cahoots with those from the temple?

Yes, It must've been to lower his vigilance!

Erebus thought runs wild, he grit his teeth in anger on not taking her life right away when he woke up.

Yuna ran out to see what the sudden commotion was.

She heard something about devil, if the said devil enter the cave, she will be cornered and that is not an ideal situation. At least confronting in the mouth of the cave seems more of a good situation, it's not a good situation exactly but compare to being cornered, better to fight head on in an open space.

Being cornered will stress her out and make her panic.

The word 'Devil' doesn't sound too pleasant and that word is not a good thing.

She was too focused on chatting with the wounded person that she failed to register the sound of footsteps that was approaching from afar.

She has lived too much of a slackened life.

Yuna vowed to always pay attention to sound around her even if she is at home.

She is easily distracted it seems and has to pay particular attention to her sorrounding to notice people or other things.

Instead of having to pay special attention, she want to be in such a way that even without concentration, she could register everything around her, even if she is sleeping.

Fantasy world is awesome and all, but there are far too many things she has to learn in order to be safe and be in peace.
