Apocalypse: Rising of Chaos

*WPC OCTOBER 2023 - ENTRY* Apocalypse. A simple yet complicated word. Why? Because no one experienced it before, and also couldn't even begin to imagine what would happen during an Apocalypse. While this was true for most people, Rael actually enjoyed the situation. Held as a prisoner for years, living worse than stray cats or dogs, Rael was finally released from the torture he had to go through everyday. What would he do now that the shackles who once stopped him from moving were gone? His composure all faded away as soon as he heard something he never expected to hear. "Congratulations humans all over the world! Planet RF-B55677, or Earth as you know it, was finally given access to the real universe!" "Brace yourselves for the impact caused by mana infiltrating the atmosphere. In 3, 2, 1..." In a new world completely different from the one Rael knew a few years ago, what would his distorted personality do? After he was betrayed by people he once considered close to him, what should he do? Would he try and unite humanity to go against a common enemy? Or... Would he destroy everything that was once familiar to him to get his revenge? ——— This novel won't be everyone's cup of tea, so if you don't like a psychopath MC(in the beginning), and wouldn't wait for his 'behaviour' to be fixed, then don't read it. It's a dark story with a slow pacing in the beginning, but don't worry, it would get faster after a while. Some of you may hate it, and the others would enjoy the simple things like: Character growth and development, world building, system, level up, and the versatile skills received by our protagonist. https://discord.com/invite/uS2mPjZv65 Cover generated by AI.

Allies in the Apocalypse?

"What's the use of keeping me alive?" Evan asked Rael's question once again.

"Well, for starters, we should take care of these zombies, you should be at least a Level 2 or 3, right? Let's not waste any more time."

As Evan said this, he gently patted Rael's hand that grabbed him.

'This kid is not bad. I should kill these zombies before they steal my XP.'

Not minding Evan and the other two anymore, Rael decided to go all out.

He accelerated at top speed and rushed in the midst of over 20 zombies. Slashing and stabbing left and right, Rael's speed and senses worked in tandem to coordinate his moves just like a killing machine.

The other three watched with their mouths agape as Rael didn't take more than two or three minutes to kill every zombie that came at him.

Before they even realized it, the zombies were all gone.

On the ground where they died though, a faded blue light was seen.

'Uncommon Drop!' Rael was extremely excited when he saw that these zombies actually dropped something.

He knew how rare it was for them to drop something, so he rushed ahead and grabbed it before checking his Inventory.

There, a pair of shoes could be seen.

'Eh, it's not an Armor or a better Weapon? Just some lousy shoes?' Rael was a bit disappointed when seeing that all he received was a pair of shoes.

Checking them, Rael was stunned for a while.

[Uncommon Shoes]: Adds 4 to Agility, 2 Stamina.

'This is good stuff!' Willing it, the shoes were instantly equipped on him.

Evan and the others were shaken seeing a light enveloping Rael feet before a new pair of shoes was there, his old ones actually appeared in his Inventory.

Excited like a little kid who received his present on Christmas, Rael completely forgot about his earlier complaints about the lousy shoes.

"Now… Where were we?" A savage smile adorned Rael's face as he turned around to face Evan and the other two.

"Wait a second. Let me explain."

"I know who you are. As for me, my name is Evan Peters, my dad is a pretty influential man outside the prison, while my uncle is the one who runs it."

"Peters? Never heard of it." Muttered Rael, much to Evan's relief.

"When I saw you wearing a guard's clothes, I knew that you probably killed some guards too, not that I mind it. All I want is to survive this hell."

"And you seem like the perfect solution for my problems, so I decided to follow you. Jacob and Sofia would be with me too. They are my bodyguards actually."

Somehow, what Evan just said sounded plausible for Rael. He guessed that the man wanted to 'use' him in hopes of having a better chance at survival.

Not mentioning anything about the light that enveloped his feet, Evan tried his best to convince Rael to accept him.

If he could grab someone's powerful thighs so early, why should he care about dignity and other useless stuff?

This was Apocalypse, not a game.

"Then, if you were to die, what would your bodyguards do? Won't they betray me?"

As Rael asked this, he looked at Jacob and Sofia.

"Of course not. After all, we three decided to follow you. It wasn't only me. They also want it."

For a reason, Rael wanted to directly separate Evan's head from his body. But he didn't do it.

He also understood that it was better to have some lackeys around him.

"I see. You just have to keep my identity a secret. I don't want to be known, yet…"

Saying this, Rael passed the three people and was going in Robert and the other's direction.

"Evan, are you sure about this? Can we trust that man?" Jacob asked after Rael left, completely unaware that the latter still heard their conversation because of his high Perception.

"Don't worry. We're only clinging to him while inside the prison, after we get out, I'm going back to my dad."

"That would be for the best, that man is dangerous." The ever silent Sofia finally spoke.

It was the second time after introducing herself that Rael heard her talk.

Not bothering with the small fries anymore, Rael wanted to catch up with the already. It wasn't that he was afraid, but it would be better to stay with them and not face any guards, he didn't want to have his identity leaked.

If those damned people heard that he didn't die inside the prison, they would surely do everything in their power to end his life.

After all, no matter how powerful Rael became, he wasn't immune to bullets, not to mention tanks and other advanced weapons.

His plan was simple: once he was out of here, he would kill everything that stood in his path and become the strongest, or strong enough to enact his revenge.

So wasting time wasn't in Rael's vocabulary.

Since the group only covered a few hundreds of meters at best, Rael quickly caught up with them.

"Rael."

"You came back so fast?"

Some of them were stunned seeing him back so fast, and alone at that.

"Yes, Evan and the other two helped me deal with the zombies. They should be back in a while too."

Once again smiling at the group, his vibrant attitude calmed them down. They would lie if they said they weren't afraid of a mishap occurring to Rael.

He was definitely the strongest among them, and if he was gone, they didn't know how they could survive against another group of zombies like the one before.

"We are here."

After a few minutes, Robert announced, Evan, along with Jacob and Sofie were also back.

Seeing the medical center ahead, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Their sub-goal was finally achieved. The walking simply killed them.

If it was a normal time, they would be happy to walk around the prison. But now, when a zombie could jump out at every step, they only felt dread.

"Let's get inside."

As Robert was the de-facto leader of the group, he was the first one to enter inside the building.

The first thing that Robert saw when entering the reception hall was blood. There was a lot of blood splashed on the marble floor and on the walls.

Most probably, the guards inside and the medical personnel fought back against the zombies with everything they could, thus resulting in the current scene ahead of their eyes.

"Rael, can you…"

"Sure." Before Robert could finish his sentence, Rael was already in front of the group, eager to confront any threat that could possibly appear.

"Halt! Who's there?" A rough voice was heard from behind a door, it belonged to a man.
