#01 The Diary

Mother's working table was very clean when I entered the room. Except that there was some dust accumulated due to being left untouched for a period of time. The key was found under the pillow she mentioned and I used it to unlock the first drawer of her table.

There was a thick and old book that looked like a diary. At first, I hesitated to read it but proceeded to do so since it was mother herself who told me to read it. I closed the drawer after taking the book and put the key back to its place.

I closed the door behind me and brought the book to my room. The pages were quite yellowish, as expected from a book that has been kept for years. Without a second thought, I flipped the book cover open to read the first page.

What froze me in place wasn't how heavy the book was in my hand but the contents in it.
