"It's a little expensive."
"Oh!." The little girl exclaimed with a look of disappointment.
Just then, another woman who came with her child tried to snatch the teddy bear from Kim Hyejin, but the little girl seemed to have sensed her actions, and immediately took a step back with the teddy bear clutched in her arms.
She seemed to have developed fast reflexes.
Park Hayoon was surprised by the sudden appearance of the woman and her child, not only that, she just tried to snatch the teddy bear from her daughter's arm.
Park Hayoon came back to her senses just as the woman tried to snatch the teddy bear from her daughter away, so she immediately came to stand in between the woman and her daughter, as she grabbed the woman's arm before it could touch her.
"What are you trying to do?!." Park Hayoon asked with a raised tone. She looked so pissed off, that what looked like an imaginary sign that says 'Stay away from me if you don't want to meet your end' was written on her forehead.
"I want that teddy bear for my daughter." The woman said as she glared at Park Hayoon for standing in her way. Next, she shook her off from her grasp
"I get the point, but can't you see it has been taken?." Park Hayoon said to her as she returned a glare.
"Taken... you say?." The woman scoffed and continued.
"I overheard you saying that the toy was expensive, and couldn't afford it, so I decided to come over and get it for my child because she wants it." The woman said as she pointed at the little girl by her side who had her gaze fixed on the toy that was held tightly in Kim Hyejin's arms.
"I said the toy was expensive, but I never said I couldn't afford it, so where did you hear that from?." Park Hayoon asked as she raised her tone slightly. She was very pissed off.
"If you could afford it, then why did you say it was expensive in the first place? Let me give you a word of advice. If you can not afford the teddy bear, give it to those that can afford it, and save your brain from stress." The woman said arrogantly.
Then she rolled her eyes at Park Hayoon before she stretched forth her hand in a bid to try and snatch the toy from Kim Hyejin, but Park Hayoon stopped her again, by grabbing her arms, and this time around, she held it a bit firmly.
Park Hayoon stared daggers at the woman as he held unto her arms in a firm grip.
The woman tried to shake off her arm, but she found out that she couldn't, because Park Hayoon was strongly holding unto it.
"Let go of me this minute before I report you to the police for assault." The woman threatened as she exchanged glares with her.
Park Hayoon scoffed. "Do you think I care about that? Well, let me let you in on a few things you don't know. One, If you ever dare to lay your hands on my daughter, I will ruin your face, Two, then we will have to go to the police station together."
"Omo! What did you just say?." The woman asked with an unbelievable expression on her face.
She looked shocked, maybe it's because Park Hayoon referred to Kim Hyejin as her daughter, or maybe it's because of the manner she pokes at her.
"I can't repeat my words just so you can hear it. If you have impaired hearing, go to the Audiologist and get your ears, fixed." Park Hayoon spoke harshly as she flung the woman's arm that was in her hold.
The woman wasn't expecting Park Hayoon to let go of her, so she staggered a little before she caught hold of herself.
"You....you..." the woman stammered as she pointed a finger at Park Hayoon, for she was too agitated to speak.
"Ssshhh." Park Hayoon shushed her as she placed a finger on her lip, as a sign for her to shut up.
"Good woman! You know how to shut up when told to." Park Hayoon commented with a smile on her face.
The woman sent death glares to Park Hayoon. If only eyes could kill, she would have killed her since, without batting an eye.
"That reminds me. You said something about me not being able to afford this toy. Now watch me, I will show you that it's possible to complain that an item is expensive, and still be able to pay for it." Park Hayoon said as she grabbed her daughter's hand and went to the cashier, leaving the woman standing there with her finger pointed out and with a distorted look on her face, like a clown.
Throughout the time, her mother shielded her like a Lioness that was protecting her cub, Park Hyejin remained to hide behind her mother, till she pulled her away.
After paying for the teddy bear, Park Hayoon took Kim Hyejin to the main shopping area, where they could buy foodstuff.
On their way there, Kim Hyejin glanced at her mother as she said to her with an appreciative smile on her face, "Pretty lady, you were so awesome back there." Kim Hyejin said this as raised her finger in a thumbs up.
Park Hayoon glanced at her daughter with a smile on her face. "Aigo! My little girl seems happy."
Kim Hyejin smiled back at her, as they went over to the foodstuff section, to continue their shopping.
"Pretty Lady, do you think Grandpa will be angry because of the teddy bear?." Kim Hyejin asked as a newfound worry came up in her little head.
"Grandpa makes toys. Since we didn't buy this one from him, will he be sad?." Kim Hyejin asked, with worry written on her face. She was truly concerned about her grandpa's opinion on the new teddy bear.
Park Hayoon chuckled softly as she patiently explained to the worried little girl. "No, because grandpa wouldn't mind at all."
"Grandpa wouldn't be unhappy?." Kim Hyejin asked, seeking more clarification.
"Yes, Grandpa wouldn't be unhappy." Park Hayoon assured her, and only then did Kim Hyejin put away the worried look on her face, and shopped happily with her.
Courage is the choice and willingness to confront agony, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation.
